Littering while he rips his numbers off as well.

I must admit my immediate thought was that his mood is not going to improve once the fine for littering is added on.

Question: You're an official. Do you dare tell him now, or do you quietly send an invoice in the post?

A whole lot of angst over 37th place or whatever.

    Have DQS missed the boat?
Only Stybar in that boss group.

Lovely cameo of one of the marshals waving an arrow to indicate which side to pass some road furniture, followed by an award-winning double take as half a dozen riders go the wrong side and nearly clip him in the process.

I'd completely forgotten about the existence of Ben Swift.

To be fair to him, his team have usually shot their bolt and disappeared from anywhere near the front of the race by the time the TV coverage starts.

Hell of a ride by Vallee to hold onto Asswipe and then work with him for 20k plus to keep a hard chasing peloton at bay. Looks like a bunch sprint coming up though.

My Man Asgreen making the sprint lead outs pay a high price

Who went the wrong way round the roundabout and carried on?

The current day peloton is embarrassing.

DQS rider goes off solo (other than a survivor from the break of the day) 30k out and holds on to win. Standard.

Dunno. I don't think anyone's been able to flag them down yet - they weren't hanging around.

    Great win from Asgreen there.

It's the same old numbers game as last year.
DQS are the only team that can get away with it.
For instance if Ineos has Ganna in that position he wouldn't win.

It's a classic QS tactic, and they're the team that can do it because they can kill you in at least three different ways. If someone else had tried it you can bet QS would have someone a bit harder to drop on his wheel.

The likes of Asgreen and Jungels can TT as well as anyone in the peloton bar the absolute top specialists. Whoever is chasing needs to commit riders into going into the red to narrow the gap. Then they play politics about who does the most work while QS sit near the front and disrupt.

And if it doesn't work then the sprint trains have been massively weakened at the cost of a single rider.

Everyone sits back scared of the likes of Lampaert and stybar, or Jacobson today. They're hardly the cream of the crop, but my god do the other teams make them look good.

The last moto shot of the front of the bunch is at 4.7k when the gap is 12 secs.

I wonder how this compares to other races

Time gaps throughout today were (as always) slightly dubious, often swinging by 20+ seconds in a single update. Other than the fact he never had a huge gap and never lost it I wouldn't try to analyse too much how closely they came.
