Hello,
When doing a FTP test, using a power meter, on a smart trainer..
Do the results vary if not using the summer bike rather than one brought for turbo time ?
Many thanks

Of course it makes a difference.
The more money you spend, the higher your FTP. Obviously. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.1 -
Mine makes no difference but then again I built my winter/turbo bike to match the geometry of my summer bike.0

shouldn't matter too much but watts will probably be lower inside, common issue.peff said:Hello,

Yes they can be different.
Position and fit affects power output and endurance, as will the gearing that you use (may find that you can't sustain your optimal cadence at FTP etc)0 -
What matters is that you keep it the same when you retest. Slightly different positions could give different FTP results.0

I just add 10 watts onto my indoor FTP. My road bike is more comfy and I can usually hold that for near an hour on the road.25% off your first MyProtein order: sign up via https://www.myprotein.com/referrals.lis ... EE-R29Y&li or use my referral code LEE-R29Y0

@OP ideally your turbo and outdoor bikes share the same geometry and set up so you max your gains from the turbo when the weather improves
Even then you still marvellous have differences in watts, usually the % isn’t enough to be detrimental to your training/ riding.“Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring”
