  • Wait until they hear about how you can just bribe your way to a better bike in real life racing by giving money to a "bike shop".

As he has hacked the program (used a bot w.e) to level up faster, which has violated the T&Cs of using Zwift, then his account has been made ineligible for competition.

I'm sure part of the competition is having an eligible account, which he does not have. Therefore his result cannot stand.

His account should be made inactive since the day/month (etc) that the "hacking" started. As this was before the championship, I agree with the decision to DQ him.

No-one else felt the need to cheat to get a bike to compete with.

This is outrageous - someone should put a stop to it..

That would finish the problem eventually just by going full circle.
No N+1, no money, no shop, no better bike...
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

I freely admit I know bugger all about Zwift, and have sod-all interest in racing indoors or out, but as far as I can make out, regardless of B.C.'s involvement, or which rules applied when, the bloke himself admits he cheated, is paying the fine and has congratulated the new winner.

Am I missing something, or am I merely feeding a troll?

As far as I know, he cheated Zwift in order to get the best bike you can get, which you can only get by riding six times the height of Everest or something. This gives an advantage, but I assume that some other competitors also rode this bike.

Once he'd got this, he still had to ride the thing faster than everyone else.

What surprised me is that they don't use a standard "bike" for a championship race.

Just wait till Zwift manage to get the UCI involved.

Hence Zwift presence in Harrogate recently

I say again e sport cycling is not going to go away.

This is what I thought, so it's just literally fitness and race craft rather than a 'better' bike and all the associated BS that brings.

When I got involved in cycling 40+ years ago you'd come across characters who had their set ideas about what cycling was and woe betide anyone who came along with new fangled ideas. It appears cycling still has its 'characters' just the new fangled ideas have changed.

    You only have to look at gaming tournaments to see where this could go;

Bah humbug! Just waiting on the UCI spec bike then, ie not the best available.
Not sure where this is going to go. Most sports rely on commercialism, which relies on viewers.
Are people really going to watch people get sweaty in a gym? Dragon's Den style, I'm out.

Plenty of people pay good money to see people get sweaty and go roundy roundy on a wooden track in a warehouse type building, and as many activities are ultimately against the clock they could forego the wooden track for the same result.

I'm reminded of Belleville Rendez-vous where the lead character, Champion, was kidnapped and made to ride a static bike with his efforts projected onto a screen for the watching public to gamble on.

a bit of a joke. the kids cheated, and he can only wear the jersey indoors on a static bike. except now he can't as he's a cheat.

Lots of people watch other people play computer games, so I don't see why Zwift should be any different.

Limmy gets quite a lot of people watching him play Euro Truck Simulator on Twitch.

I don't watch that either but at least that has the potential for crashes instead of just going through the other riders.

    ^^^this

why is this even in 'road general'?

cheating on an indoor trainer is not road cycling

road cycling requires handling skills and ability to cope with hazards, varying surfaces and weather, together with risk of violent death

if you look at the average sunday "club run" i think you will find that none of these attributes are present save for the risk of SUDDEN and VIOLENT death.

Well, after a weekend that included one rider suffering serious injury after hitting a barrier, another suffering serious injury after hitting a car and a rider dying after hitting a post, some of your boxes are most definitely ticked.

    Chapeau.

Exactly. It's Zwift so who gives a flying.

I can't honestly see a massive difference between watching someone else play a computer game and watching someone play snooker. Or football.

    Each to their own.
