It means the people who aren't paying extra are going to a meeting and flying back same day and don't really care about a few quid.

I'd also argue that luggage isn't a trivial cost by any stretch.

More weight means more fuel being used. If everyone has 20 kilo bags, that's roughly 20-25% more passenger weight.

I think I read it costs something like £2 per flight.

One of the advantages of flying long haul is that you can fly with pleasant airlines.

People who complain about cars will happily fly when they go on holiday.

Me? I didn't use to fly much as I preferred overland travel.

Planes don't tend to get in my way when I'm on the bus or bike or walking.

Airports are undeniably inconvenient places to spend much time though.

Probably less inconvenient than a long queue of traffic at Dover. Though these days I do miss using Exeter Airport (currently no flights to Paris), as my maximum queue time was about 10 minutes.

These medieval saints, even taking some pretty heavy embellishments into account, do manage to cram a hell of a lot into their short lives

Orchis orchids... they seem to be more specific in France (I get corrected) whether they are 'orchis' or 'orchidée'

That 'sneezing' should actually be 'fneezing', but someone in the 15th century mistook the f for the old-fashioned s used at the starts of words... an eggcorn that stuck.

That's 309 in dog years though.
Similarly shocked: those years of smoking Gitanes and swigging half litres of lager have fairly caught up with him.

Modello beer, that Mexican beer I used to pay a fortune for to get hold of to have it with my Mexican, is now the highest selling beer in the US - higher even than bud light

You may have missed the big story but you should have ended “especially bud light”

Personally I would have thought that the wokerati would drink it rather than red necks so expected sales to increase

I didn't miss the story, but the premium version of corona (as it was sold back in the day) and a Mexican beer, becoming the #1 US beer I think is an incredible story.
