To get Landa on the podium I guess. And get more time on Roglic

I guess that’s the last time Lex Luther will be at a bike race.

Elsewhere, Landa ballsed up a sprint in the same way against Nibali two years ago

It's not easy to see on the clip, but I think he was smacking the wrong spectator.
The runner was in the white tee and ran into the guy in the blue tee (who then gets a smack)

Miguel Angel Lopez has won the welterweight jersey for this edition of the Le Giro with a wonderful combination there. Chateau Miguel!

Landa would lose a one up sprint against himself.

I think the guy had a flag or something over his shoulder and down his back that was mainly white.

Pretty sure he was hitting the right guy, it was the same hat. Like Dabber says I think he had a white flag over his shoulders.

    That's how I saw it.

I hope the race jury don't come down too hard on Lopez.

The devil on my left shoulder is yelling that he should be docked enough time to put my man Sivakov back into white. The angel on my right shoulder is pointing out that he's already lost at least a minute due to circumstances entirely beyond his control and that is more than enough of a penalty. Both agree that the spectator deserved what he got.

Was expecting a hefty 'non-race-affecting' type punishment...but surprisingly he's gotten away with it scott free

I am surprised, I half expected disqualification.

..because in some perverse way , disqualification or penalties added, would somehow be regarded as a reward for the fookin idiots who do this side by side running c rap. Earlier in the race , they nearly took out 'law abiding' spectators who were just trying to take a photo of the race as it passed.
I honestly cannot accept that they are 'fans', just self obsessed clowns who deserve a right thumping.

(To note, quietly trying to take a photo whilst not in the way of the race is not in contravention of actually being a cycling race fan although some commentators align this activity with the work of the devil by saying they should be 'watching' the race)

He should have been disqualified...and carried out of the race shoulder-high.

I'm pleased that Lopez never got penalised. I think a****ole spectators (not fans) that do that should get some "special attention".
On a similar tack I see Roglic got handed a 10 second penalty for the pushing incident. I sort of feel a bit uncomfortable about that. I know he never took any action to try and stop it but even though I'm not a particular fan of Roglic it seems a bit harsh.
