If you follow the thread it explains everything.
Effectively (as confirmed by Ordinance Survey) the seaward boundary extension is an ancient one set by parliment giving Bristol control of shipping0 -
If you look down the thread, the extent of the Port of Bristol's authority was set by Edward III with reference to the three islands and it has never been changed.First.Aspect said:1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

It intrigues me that you've both looked down the thread and come to different conclusions.- Genesis Croix de Fer

Are they different conclusions?0

I think we're just paraphrasing the same point differently. It's more interesting that it's not been changed in the last 600 years.pangolin said:It intrigues me that you've both looked down the thread and come to different conclusions.

That is interesting. I wonder if this means Bristol city council still has to foot the bill for keeping that channel dredged?rjsterry said:

There will probably be a post on the trivial things that annoy you thread about how hard it is to mount a bike rack on it, to drive to the second home in Cornwall.
I also have a quite conventional Thule roof rack which fits without 'popping panels'.
What I paid for my Porker is far less that what people imagine I did. I see new Volvos. BMW's (especially M badged), Range Rovers (of various descriptions), Jaguars, Mercs* - all with huge price tags, yet I get stereotyped as having lots of money. It's a funny thing perception.
Although, mine is actually paid for.

Why are so many people unable to spend 2 hours on a plane without using the toilet? There were people queuing as soon as the doors were closed before we'd started taxiing and then it was constant from the time the seatbelt signs went off until they came back on again. The wife takes the Mick out of me for going so often but even I managed that duration with no issues.0

Yes, the 964 likes trees. 450bhp but... modern rubbers make them a little more easy to handle except prices are through the roof.
The above (997) is identical to mine except my one is black and I didn't pay that and had only 52k on the clock. A new engine @ 47k - that's another story. Previous owner had it changed under warranty.
The 996 has the fried egg or omelette headlights. They are great cars and come undervalued.
My preference would be a clean 993 - post 964, last of the air cooled, still much more reminiscent of the older styling without the pitfalls and price tag (well, sort of).

Heartbreaking reading stories of people picking them up for 10k.
993 a bit expensive for me. 997 turbo is the dream but also a bit expensive. Depending on how I do next year I may get a high milage Carrera 2.
Also I am set on a manual but tbh not really sure why.
Also everyone I've spoken to raves about boxters except snobs. Ironic given your post about Audis and G wagons.0 -
Based purely on comments by Clarkson and all his guests who have had 911s a Carrera 2 (S) is the sweet spot if costs are an issue with the Turbo being the dream as you say. Apparently the pedal position isn't great in the RH drive manual so an auto is advised.shirley_basso said:

Based on my experience of owning a relatively quick car then the limiting factor in acceleration is the speed of the driver changing gear. A manual is nice but if I buy a performance car now it will be an auto.
Other opinions will be available, no doubt. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I think the quality of the pre-pdk autos is a bit lacking, according to everything I've read.
I am not an experienced driver so just want to enjoy the "connection" to a manual. Not test driving yet until in a position to buy0 -
