Well I voted black, missing that the blue had discs and now I have buyers remorse.

+1, you want to ride something you like. I bought a TCR few years ago, great bike, but just could not like the look of the pain scheme, sold 6 months later for a weeping loss

Yep, a bike purchase should always promote a little stirring in the trouser department. Life's too short for boring / plain / ugly bikes.
  • Or you realise in a few weeks that you've bought a can of Irn Bru and none of the colours match your current kit.

Ask pinno for some big girl archive pics and glue them to the top tube and stem...

You’ve gone for the disc model?
  • Honest answer, I’m going to look in the giant store Monday and go from there.

Got a place in the Pyrenees.
    Do bike and ski stuff.
  • I was semi seriously looking at that earlier......

  • It’s where my money would go . . . I have an older rim braked tcr as my winter bike and a disc Cervélo S3 as my summer bike, the tcr hardly ever gets ridden, aero and disc is the way to go in my opinion.

  • It is nice, thing is, for that price, the Aeroad in blue is super tempting........

We need a new vote to include the Propel.

Was looking at the specs for mine earlier and it made me realise just how good a bike it actually is.

I think you’re doing the best thing by going to have a look at them. Does the store have all the models in that you’re considering?
  • Right, I've stuck the Propel in there.

I'm OK with 25. But 28 will fit appatently except the notorius 28c gp4000 can be tight.

They will fit... With about 1mm of clearance!

Right, I've stuck the Propel in there.

If we agreed that disc brake is the way to go, then between 2 disc models its up your personal preference. Ride them both, and buy the one who feels right.

What do you want to get out of the bike? What sort of rides are you doing (av speed, climbing, distance etc)? What sort of roads will you be on?
Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.

This is the right question and, honestly, I'm tinkering with the Propel. Most of my rides will be sportive, audax, abroad, climbing etc.

Now, I want to have a look at whether one can do all those things on what is an aero rather than tt bike. I will probably default back to the TCR at the end of this. But, who knows, I may even prefer the Defy.

I should say I've upgraded my Boardman to full Ultegra, better wheels, 11-32 etc so, if need be, the audax/sportive duties can be done by that. So, maybe, a race bike for "those days" isn't such a bad thing to have.

I think the main thing then is to avoid duplication.

I tried an Aeroad and it's fast for sure but I found it pretty dead to ride and much preferred the Ultimate. I don't think I'd want an Aeroad/Propel as an all-rounder, but instead I'd put as much money into the best all-round frame I could afford (which for me was the C64). That said, the emotional pull of a bike that you just want to go and look at is a factor.

If you're chasing times/segments then full Aero is a good call, but you might find greater gains working on existing position. Just a thought.

If you're keeping the Boardman then surely the Propel is the way to go, assuming you can get on with the position.
