Incidentally, I started a new pension with AJ Bell last month and have lost 2.5% in the first month so I'm going to panic and sell then stuff the money under a mattress instead.

My current work pension has done nothing over the 2 years I've worked there. In fact over they last 12 months it's 6% down.
Markets had their worst year since ‘08 last year. Absolute shocker.

    RIP my ‘23 as a result 😑
Why the '23 result, companies being more cautious in their hiring?

Apparently Remain are saying Matt Hancock owned 20% of his sisters company which he awarded the PPE contract too. He then denied this and tried to cover it up allegedly.

Sometimes the Telegraph is just funny. Glad to see that Janet Daley has returned to her previous unhinged form.

I am currently in Fiji and have had first hand dealings with their health service. Let me assure you that the locals dream of a service like ours, even at it’s worst.

To be fair to her (something I never thought I’d say!), wasn’t this something that came out of the inquiry into Rotherham with the criticism that it was allowed to happen because no-one was prepared to state the facts?

Not really. The Home Office's own investigation showed that sexual abuse of minors was pretty evenly spread across the population. The issue was less PC over-sensitivity than various authorities not taking victims seriously (viewing them as just "troubled teens"). Latterly the criminal justice system is so underfunded that it doesn't really matter whether local authorities take victims seriously because it will be years before anything gets to court if you are lucky.

Braverman is just making sh*t up, again.

in fairness to Zoe the headline does not say "envy of Fiji"

Foreigners tend to see the NHS as a bit sh1t and are baffled by our deification of it

Has anyone actually been in a Western hospital that's not British?

Inflation in the restaurant industry is off the charts.

I'm pondering a wahoo computer at £200, and possibly a nice automatic watch at £400 (probably won't) and i'm just putting in expenses for a 2 course 2 person dinner, no booze at an up market but by no means fancy fish restaurant at £200. WTF is going on.

No fairness required “Foreigners” includes Fiji.
I have seen perspective and the result of race to the bottom along with the direct results of us (amongst others) poaching overseas resources. People dying in understaffed and under resourced hospitals.

    Fish was pretty good, FWIW.

Aaaaah... Braverman's constituency is being revised so she needs to be reselected. Which explains her suddenly appearing to spout nonsense.

Looks like nearly 200 of their MPs would rather pretend to be nothing to do with their party.

    Wonder why that might be.😏

This was lurking behind my comment about what Braverman was doing making comments about Pakistani gangs. From Ray's subsequent posts, Braverman certainly seems to have stirred the anti-Pakistani racists.

Oh, and the 'fixing social care' is now halving the existing level of funding.

It's a bit like the Fib Dums round here, whose electoral selling point was that 'at least we're not Labour, who haven't got a chance so please please give us a try'.
