Hello strangers. Hope all is well with you lot.

I am expecting a massive break today that will take ages to be allowed to form.

What was the stage about 5 years ago in the Pyrenees that we first saw full coverage from the stage start and Garmin blew the race apart punishing whomever was in yellow. Took over an hour for the break to form, constant attacking in the valley roads?

Anyway IMHO today will be like that.

You have seen the profile for today haven't you?

Looking ahead at the parcours, beyond the 65km Portet day, there's nothing there to suggest that the climbs are markedly different the ones in the Alps, and only one MTF (Portet). Beyond the obvious point that time gaps will occur in the TT, if I was Froome I'd be very nervous that there isn't sufficient space in those stages to find the time he needs to find. 20s here and there may be, but he's going to need to do something special as I can't really see Thomas cracking mid-stage.

Pretty damn quiet at the moment - 4 guys up the road with 1 minute 50 on the bunch, with 72km to go. Might have an early night...

  • Surely this is just a waste of energy for de Gendt?

    Why not just sit up?

Hello all - I've just got in from fencing some donkeys (as in fencing them in, not Errol Flynn). From the fact there's still only three pages I guess I've not missed much apart from some sprinters teams pointedly not working because they've run out of sprinters?

UAE also showing some willingness to work as well, have Colbrelli for the sprint.

I think you'll find that my man Kristoff (and PTP) is at UAE, Colbrelli is at Bahrain...

Getting a modicum of amusement from the games the break are playing with the chase. One must take what one can get on a day such as this.

Seeing as there is nothing going on in the stage today, you might as well tell us a bit more about the donkeys
