GT style of racing has really changed over past 10 years.

So often the peloton is properly flat out heading into a 'risky' section - as in, risk to fall off or be held up.

Used to be a one day phenomenon only.

Danish TV reporting Cav went to the team car on the first climb and said to them (of his radio) "Get this f@cking thing off me"
Clearly struggling if he wants to drop about 200g of equipment.

Looks like Groenwegen is also with Cav and Kittel now, and some teammates (inc Renshaw) dropped back for them, group of 7

Edet keeps getting dropped by Calamity Jane and Spoons, but fights back every time. How un-Cofidis.

I just realised with sudden horror that I am now in the target age group for all these insurance ads on ITV4.

Whatever happens in today's stage we have learnt why G always wears those old school white jawbones! They are prescription lenses. There's a mystery solved.

See, I'm stuck with some Oakleys as they prescription lenses which cost a packet, so I cant afford to be fickle. I reckon if I was part sponsored by Oakley and earned a few million a year though, Id treat myself

But when G lost his after Barguil put him into that telegraph pole the other year he didn't just want to settle for whatever replacement that Oakley had, he actually appealed on twitter to anyone who might have picked them up

Which would make sense if he has prescription lenses. However, you'd think Oakley would provide him with prescription lens Oakleys. I'm sure they would, he just likes the jawbones. Maybe the shape of them works better with his prescription.

25km to go, 39 seconds to the break.

Peloton whitling down, nothing to report.

Back of the peloton keeps slowing down so much because of the pinch points they have to stop.

Descent very dangerous according to Chris Anker, who's just gone down it on a moto. Lumpy surface.

It's strange when you see how far off the front they go when they take the intermediate sprints.
