If you wanted to stick with conventional road bikes I'd look at a Canyon Endurace CF SLX or a Trek Domane/Specialized Roubaix. Endurance geometry, and clearance for 30-32mm tyres plus disc brakes. If you like the Focus Paralane, these are 3 other options. Alternatively a Mason Bokeh would be a hoot.

Thanks, but I have narrowed it down to the two bikes I mentioned. Endurace won't be available until August in my size, the Trek and Spesh are great but don't seem to be the same value.

So out of the Cube and the Cannondale, is the Cannondale worth spending the Grand on?

Apologies if missed this in the thread but are you able to try the dale? Ime you end up paying more for cannondale esp versus something like a cube. Howeve! If it fits you better or you just like it more then go for it, it’s your money.

I've ordered the Cube....I loved the Synapse and liked the Cube. But I just couldn't justify spending another grand on the bike (when I say me I mean my wife). If I don't like the Cube when I get it I can return within 90 days and I;ll get the Synapse. I looked at the bikes in detail and could't see a huge difference in the Geometry (to my eye and level of performance) also who had a chat with my mate who is a Bike mechanic, who thought the same.
I can run 28mm tyres and that should be fine for me.....

Thanks for all the advice...I'll be looking for tyre advice next

equinefunk; How do you like the Cube? Are you running 28mm on it? I'm thinking about getting the Attain myself and use it with 30-32mm tires, and something lile 90% road and 10% gravel...
