I really hope Woods puts in a good showing. Lopez could be fun too.

Why is Kruijswijk not riding this year? It always seemed like the Giro was his race as he's consistently done better there than any other race.

    The Bookies Odds (from Bet365)
    6/4 Froome
    15/8 Dumoulin
    5/1 Lopez
    6/1 Pinot
    9/1 Aru
    28/1 Chaves, Pozzovivo
    33/1 Yates
    66/1 Bennett, Dennis
    80/1 Wood, Formolo
So is Meintjes at about 100/1 ? Or has he withdrawn from taking part ?

150/1 with most bookies, including the one I took the prices from. Seems worth an each way punt to me.

I see, coincidental to the near start of the Giro, Israel yesterday posthumously gave Israeli citizenship to Gino Bartali.
This because, during the latter part of WW2 he sometimes delivered falsified exit papers, hidden in the frame of his bike, to Italian Jews, enabling them to then flee Italy.

Much as I like Lopez, I just don't see him as third favourite, ahead of Pinot.
He's just too flaky. More like the same odds as Chaves and Pozzo.

There don't seem to be that many who have failed dope tests in the lineups - am I missing someone? Only got Ulissi and Froome.

I'd say it seems like good news - if Bardiani hadn't been chosen as a wild card team.
