Team Jerseys

Hello everyone
Is it OK for a casual rider to wear for example a Team Sky jersey when out with mates on a sunday ride? I'm quite afraid I'll get judged by others (and I know I shouldn't care) and become a less respected rider in the group. I didn't quite find my type of jersey so I went to the LBS and really liked the Team Sky jersey from Castelli. Though expensive, it fit me the best and it sticks to my skin (important for me since I'm a skinny guy and I never found a jersey that really fit me). Your thoughts?
Thanks

Get a Castelli jersey that doesn't have Team Sky on it. Problem solved.0

Wear anything you want when you want to.
Anyone who comments on anything you wear is a dick.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Not this again. Okay. Wearing it is fine. Some riders WILL judge you (because they are dicks). Forget about them. If you love the look of the kit and it fits you well then just buy it, wear it, ride, be happy.
For max Team Sky points carry a couple of large asthma inhalers in your jersey pockets... ;-)0 -

Sorry, didn't know it was such a common topic here. Will search before I post in the future.0 -
No rainbows or National champion stripes.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0

No issues with team jerseys (No different to a football shirt imo)
No stripes or leaders jerseys. You didn't earn them.0 -
If wearing Sky kit, don't forget your jiffy package and take 20 puffs of your inhaler during the ride.================

don't wear anything that upsets people who are moronic enough to react when you ride near them. that way you are safe.
Or just wear what you want...0 -
I remember a few years ago when I had my Cervelo R3SL, I use to see a guy in full Garmin Cervelo kit on his Trek.I was jealous. Also use to see a guy in full HTC- HighRoad kit, always using a Camelbak.I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0

Or just wear what you want...The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Someone find the huge thread on this and kill this one off.0

Is there a reason you specifically want to wear the jersey? If you are a huge SKY fan then go ahead, sod what anyone else says. My personal view is that there are so many stylish jerseys out there, I've never felt the need to even think about wearing something that you see so much of.
I also don't think anyone over the age of 13 should wear a football shirt in public, but that's another matter.Trainer Road Blog: https://hitthesweetspot.home.blog/

Couldn’t agree more. People can wear what they want, but in my opinion football shirts should be worn by adults only when playing football or, at a push, watching a football match. Just like cycling shirts, of whatever variety, should be worn only when cycling.....or running alongside grand tour riders going up a mountain obviously.Bianchi ImpulsoBMC Teammachine SLR02 01Trek Domane AL3“When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race. “ ~H.G. On a similar vein ex-athlete Kris akkibusi (sp?) was on sky news this morning taking thew wee wee out of recreationalist cyclists who wear lycra and team jerseys, strange i would have thought he would be in favour of people exercising hey hoAll lies and jest..still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....0

Good point but I’ve often found you don’t need clothing to detect that.Trainer Road Blog: https://hitthesweetspot.home.blog/

If you like the jersey wear it. I
tend not to wear pro team tops now cos it's harder to match the kit to the rest of your stuff, and inevitably as soon as you buy it - they change the design.
If you like the sky top and it fits you = then go for it.0 -
Going to dig out my old 7Eleven and SuperU Jerseys.0

Apart from U.S. Postal of course, but then if you want to, go ahead. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Funny how you never see anyone wearing the old Castorama team kit. :shock:Bianchi ImpulsoBMC Teammachine SLR02 01Trek Domane AL3“When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race. “ ~H.G. Wells Edit - "Unless it's a BMX"0

I sometimes see a guy out riding in full US Postal Armstrong-era kit, also on a Trek 5200 framset. I think it's awesome. I tried to hold his wheel once, he's fast.0

Just look for the Stone Island patch on the sleeve on football days. When I was a plod, it was a signal you had a knob in front of you.
I've got a Lampre Merida kit I was intending to get Costa etc to sign and frame, but the team folded before I could get it sent off and done. I might just have to wear it one of these days.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0
