Adam Yates in a different league to everybody else, today.
Kwiatkowski into the leader's jersey by just the 3rd place bonus seconds.

Great stage today, really focused, would like to see Froome try to muster more but he needs some new tyres if he doesn't want to get disengaged, great job of work done by Luke Durbridge, Turbo durbo, great climbing towards the end even if people didn't want to be in the front, elbows flicked all over the place like a dodgy dad dance. Really interested to see who'll win the coveted trident of neptune, like a big fork if you will but he won't be eating with it, although he was a big guy

  • I think Matt Stephens would make a decent lead commentator.

He's quite good isnt he. Mind you, the lead commentator has to fill an awful lot of time.

this is a really good race yet in my head I always think of it as a sprinter fest.

That he would. I still can't reconcile his voice to his face though. Don't know why, he just sounds more sensible/authorative than he looks.

Big crash 8km out. Gaviria touches the wheel in front, goes down right in front of Sagan who has to unclip but manages to avoid decking it, not so lucky for a few ag2r, EF, Israel riders

Sagan held up though riding back through the cars with 5km to go. Very impressive if he can contest the sprint properly

Heli shot showing Sagan moving up, long way to the front with Katusha laying it down

Locked onto Kittels wheel from 700m, can't come round the big german but takes 2nd in the sprint from Richeze. Fair ride that
  • Kittel takes it, but I don't know if it's been mentioned before: He's some rider that Peter Sagan.

Anyone who is thinking about a result at the weekend is going to be watching Sagan. If they weren't doing so already, which they should have been. But the last two days have been vintage Sagan, totally different races and a 2nd place in each

With Kirby wittering on and on about Kittel being fragile and not up for it: who else was going to win that stage?
Another crash inducing Italian town circuit, although Gaviria has no one to blame but himself.

Yeah all the focus on Kittel not being able to get himself in the right spot and both sprints Gaviria has messed up!

Gaviria has broken his hand. No classics season for him.

Lapse of concentration from Gaviria, unlike Sagan who somehow stayed upright, and had a lot of work to do to get back in let alone to contest the sprint and podium.

Must be the "gnarly road surfaces" that Carlton keeps wittering on about.

there was a section on the descent yesterday he was having apoplexies about and I just looked at it and thought,I wish our roads were only that gnarly at the moment

Seems like Sunweb are trying out the warm-up area blackout that gave Sky such great publicity way back when:

    Not cool guys.

This is the stuff UCI would be better off focusing on. Whole point of cycling is you can get up close with the riders before and after.

What are they trying to hide? That's seriously dodgy behaviour, if you ask me. They must be filthy.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

    Give me strength.
If we were playing the Kirby drinking game, he just given us enough ammo for a bender.
Police motor bike escorting another rider just past by friggin 'Lennie' Kamna gets it in the neck for being in his boy's way.
Then Pozzato's police bike is in drafting range, 50 metres up the road.

Ha ha - yes it is, I am not an Olympic medal winning cyclist sadly!
