Kittel's first win of the season isn't it?

Any word on who went down in the crash?

    They were both appalling today.
The full volume outpouring of fake hysteria made it just about unwatchable.
    It's cycling, not motor sport.

Pick the bones out of that lot. Since we are in Italy, I expect it will be a while before we find out if any GC boys copped it in that crash.

Adam Yates did according to the Mitchelton-Orica-Scott-Jayco-Greenedge twitter account.

  • Forgot Dowsett had joined Katusha ( and sort of forgot Kittel had!)

Dowsett - Trek-Livestrong 1 year , SKY x 2 years; Movistar x 5 years; Katusha - not the team progression might have expected for a UK cyclist

I'm actually surprised he's still riding at WT level. He doesn't seem to offer a lot to a team.

Grunt work for a sprinter's team. He may have found his niche.

To be fair, he's won 13 races as a pro including a GT stage. That's a lot more than many, many pro riders.

Yes and that WT win was really impressive too.

Who's the sprintiest GC rider in the race? Profile looks a bit much for a Sagan. Is it similar to the finish Thomas took out last year?

    Surely too steep for Sagan?

Don't really know what Geraint's role is today. It's probably a decent finish for him but I imagine Froome will need some assistance on these kind of gradients.

Froome's fine on these gradients when he needs to be (he was second up the Muur de Huy when the Tour went up there). Not sure if he has the form now though. Teammates are fine for getting in the right position at the start of the climb, but not much use in actually climbing it. It'll be every man for himself I'd think.

A bit longer and a bit steeper than Huy, so, no, not for Sagan I don't think.
The punchier GC boys and maybe somebody like Teuns or Benoot?
