I would take a second hand TCR or Tarmac over a CAAD any day, did the OP say he wanted a bike to race on???
As for "can take a knock" rubbish, ultra thin alloy dents easily and cannot be repaired, plenty of firms can repair carbon, which is also a very tough material.
My experience of a CAAD10 was poor, harsh and luck of the draw, issues with the BB30, my Tarmac Expert was a great bike and i regret selling it.
Look out for a s/h TCR/S-works, as Imposter says they can be had for sensible money, a local dealer to me, are selling a brand new 56cm 2015 S-works for 1600, used going to be 1/2 to 2/3rds that.0 -
