Well, speed is not in the equation, as it's a distance challenge, so it makes no sense to even mention it.
Mine was an attempt to reward extra points to push people to go "extra distance"... in 1920 running 26 miles was something for the few, nowadays any Joe average runs a marathon...
Similarly, 100 km are not a very long way and if after years of riding one still sees 100 km as a "challenge", then he's not pushing himself "distance-wise"... maybe he does 100 km in 3 hours, but that's a different challenge that has nothing to do with distance.left the forum March 20230 -

Defending champion and up-til-now runaway leader of the 2018 Challenge MileMuncher appears to have suffered a serious mechanical; leaving Runner2Cycling to inherit pole position. The podium positions are thrown wide open with a mere four points covering second to fifth, and a further six points covering sixth to tenth. I shall administrate from the broom wagon for the remainder of the year; a combination of school holidays, shift patterns and the sudden opportunity to buy a great house did for me. Still, only the second month I've missed since Jan 2010 so can't be too down about it... keep on pedalling everyone!0 -
Annoyingly in sight of a podium finish just when I decided I can't be bothered :-(
Doing a bit of maths, I've got 5 points coming in the next 4 weeks if I do all I have planned to do... but then I have nothing planned... and I don't really want to plan anything after...left the forum March 20230 -
Likely won't be doing much more until October now - last RR of the year on Sunday and it's under 100km, but do have an e d of season training camp in Alicante at the end of the month where I might squeeze a couple more in. Then provided October is reasonable weather I'll do a couple of base rides which should give me some points thereFat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

Many apologies for the woefully late compilation of October's rides! Runner bangs in his biggest month of the year whilst the fight for the podium positions hots up with both Cruff and Svetty having productive months. In the pursuing bunch only five points separate 6th and 11th, and StanThomas keeps on keeping on for that lanterne rouge - good man!
Ajdobbin - that's a belting ride you did there, we've stayed on a farm near St Austell several times and I have dreamt of a day out doing a ride around the coast like that, nice one 8)0 -
Well after 5 or 6 years I have finally crashed out. I've been focused on trying to squeeze an extra few watts on my FTP for the last few weeks and the longer rides took a back seat.

Podium positions remain unchanged in the penultimate month of the year but Cruff is making a late charge for third - will Manx Shred hang on or be pipped on the line? We bid adieu to Charlie Potatoes, will the twenty who have made it through to December all complete the challenge..?0 -

Thanks, was a hell of a day. Some stunning roads down this part of the country. If you ever get the chance make sure to ride the B3306 between St.Ives and St.Just, what a stretch of tarmac that is!0 -

Final scores on the doors! Top five remain as they were, some seriously good numbers being posted there everyone, well done. Diplodicus climbs two places in the last month to finish sixth and Kirkee falls at the last. StanThomas retains the lanterne rouge.

It has been a good years riding, although last time I broke the 50 barrier, I only came 9th.
2019 will be less long rides as I am doing more MTBing, so same time, less distance.0 -
