I've done what I can on my lunch break :)

I'll be back on the case just as soon as I've saved more tax than Lewis Hamilton

I currently work with a guy who was previously 'head of private clients' at literally the most notorious lizardman organisation, and another who was 'Chief Investment Officer' & 'Chief European Equity Strategist' among other things at another large evil lizardman organisation. I'm keeping the fuck out of this...

Rick is on storming form in the Paradise Papers thread. And the trolling card has been bought out again by someone who is confused by all the big words in there.

Did a job for a mate today. I initially over priced the job because I really didn't want to do it and that gave me a win/win outcome.
Still, he paid me and he's happy.

    Laters.

Following the retirement of the second best player to ever grace a football pitch (the first being the hallowed Gianfranco Zola) a really nice write up of Andrea Pirlo.

More talent and class in his little toes than every English footballer in the history of football all squashed together.

disaster, run out of tawny port, surely betokening events of unimaginable import, watch out for locusts, plague, brexit, raining leeches etc.

just placed an order for waitrose to deliver a half-dozen, but that's not going to help tonight and not in the mood to go out

seems it's time to try the mysterious bottle of australian '10yo rutherglen tawny" mrs s got me in one of her random acts of shopping, the label admonishes me to "rock it like a redhead", i'm ok with that, especially with the right redhead

    Evening folks,
All done, well for today. Eventually got in with consultant and she apologised profusely saying she wanted to see him last so she could spend enough time with him. Fair play we were in with her well over an hour as she went over everything. After all that we're none the wiser in many ways, but they have to do tests to check he can withstand chemo and what type. Apparently he's a very unusual case and doesn't conform to any normal types. Something to do with a murkles divertium or some such. Big words were used. Finally got home mid-afternoon and had to contend with a sickly daughter, great.
Not the best day off I've had. Work tomorrow will feel like a break.

Heh heh. You're a man after my own heart. Though I actively seek out a screwcap on fresh zingy whites from NE Spain, Kabinett or trocken rieslings, and those juicy simple reds full of sunshine from the south of France.

    How is the Aussie tawny?

Things are never simple. After a few years of endless appointments with Issie I learned doctor speak. Obviously not in a clinical sense, I just knew my daughter's case, prognosis, likely treatments, palliatives etc.

Maybe we should do a drink, take your mind off, if you're so inclined? I know Stevo is keen now he's got his board meeting out of the way.

Now I'm not really one for the tribalism of football, especially international football, but unfortunately Matthew is right. Italy win. Chiellini, Baresi, Maldini, Costacurta, Cannavaro, Nesta. Defenders to stir the soul, and rake their studs down your achilles.

Italy fought on the side of the allies in the Great War, and strung up Mussolini and Petacci and were fighting against the Nazis post 1943.

And it's laughable to think that Britain would have "won" either of the major 20th century conflicts without the sacrifices of the French and Russians in the first war and the American men and money and the 20 million dead Russians on the Eastern Front in the second.

...and we'll never be able to celebrate a goal like it's the birth of your own child on the day you win the lottery and your MIL goes on a 10 year long world cruise just after receiving a letter from Margot Robbie declaring her undying love for you and an all expenses paid for shag fest on the QT.

Don't get me wrong. I love where I live, and I apologise if someone stands on my foot, just like a proper Brit,
but misplaced patriotism based on myth and propaganda isn't my thing. What makes this a great place to live is a deep seated tolerance, and the ability to take the piss and laugh at pomposity and bombast.
