Buy the Colnago and in ten years time you’ll still be riding your beautiful bike. Classic. A thing of beauty.

Buy the Bianchi and you’ll have an old, unloved and unused bike gathering dust in your shed.

Here's my C59. It needs more black.

I have a 8 year old Bianchi Oltre (mk.1) Campagnolo Record, still going strong, still much loved. Think it’s more about Colnago owners realising they spent too much on it in the first place so they may as well keep riding it.

I drive a Skoda Yeti and own a C59 and Master. That's yer theory out the window.

The Yeti is actually a brilliant motor - I had one for work. Fill it full of kit and it's amazing.

Utterly no need for these shyyyte Range/Land Rovers you see - Yeti does it all ten times better without making you look like a paedo.

Imagine that with deep rims and a steep drop stem. Utterly lush

I'd go all-out for a custom Passoni Top Force Disc with horizontal top tube, horizontal stem ( like a Thomson X2 at 17 deg), Rotor Uno but with the new black Shimano DuraAce discs (he says assuming they're compatible) and made to allow for the new Enve 4.5 AR Disc wheelset with Challenge Paris_Roubaix tubulars (spec says 27mm but will come out more 30+ to match the rims).

Summat like this - but with Ti bottle cages obvs....

You’ve only still got if because residual value is close to zero, so might as well hang on to it :D

FWIW with some canny buying I paid just over £4K for my C59, SR EPS, as per photo. About the same as your Bianchi?

I bought mine frame only and built it up so can’t say how much it would have cost. Groupset came off a Wilier. I have had offers for it and could easily sell it for at least 2k if I wanted to but it’s such a good bike I would never let it go.

Personally I wouldn't go for Italian brands. They make nice bikes but you get no value for money.

BUT since u asked, if I have to choose between one of them I'd go with bianchi. Not that colnago is bad, but it's the only major brand that still glues together carbon tubes.(whereas the monocoque production used by 99.9% of major manufacturers). That just gives me an impression that colnago is lacking a bit in the modern tech, and potentially a terrible R&D department

(No offense to colnago fans, this is just my humble opinion)

If value for money is the yardstick then it's hard to see why anyone would look beyond budget brands like Ribble or Dolan. If you stick some decent wheels on it and say 105 then for around 1500 quid you've got yourself a bike that can basically do everything you'd ever want or need and do it just as well as something five times the price with a different badge on the frame. A CAAD 12 would be similar value but with a bit more brand Kudos. The reason we don't all go down that route is probably because we buy with our hearts as well as our heads. It's why people buy VWs over Skodas even though they're exactly the same car to all intents and purposes. Most of us have a bit of latent snobbery in us and ownership is often about how we think other people perceive us rather than just the functionality of a given product. Me? I love the style, passion and emotion Italians bring to whatever they do. I love Italian bicycles with Italian groupsets. I love their motorbikes, cars food and women as well!!!! Give me a Pinarello or a Colnago over a Trek any day of the week - any Trek, even their 12 grand flagship that's so light it floats away if you're not sat on it, they just don't stir anything in me at all.

    Yes.

Nice one troll boy. But I'll bite...

They currently make eight carbon road bikes and seven are monocoque - Concept, V2-R, K-Zero, C-RS, A1r/A1r CX, Prestige CX.

And yet people still seems to prefer the lugged version, given the choice.
Strange that. Maybe the 99.9% are wrong.

I did debate if I had made the right decision with the Master. The Gios would have been in steel though.

An old steel framed Bianchi in Celeste is a beautiful thing, personally I don't think they look as good in carbon fibre. Some Colnagos are also beautiful, some not so much. Personally I'd be more than happy with either if it was the right one, others I'd turn down. Quite fancy a Pegoretti but would need to come into a fair chink of cash first.

My Master from steel, obviously. The Gios in the photo above seems to have an oversized downtube, indicating another material. I checked their website before posting and the Gios steel frames still seem slender. Confused now.

I would have went for the Gios Steel Master, if not the Colnago. Direct competition I presume.

I guess so. I'm pretty certain it's steel - it's far from perfect paintwork in places and it looks like you'd expect steel to look where there's little protection.

Of the two choices, I'd have a Colnago. Had an E1 for years which was easily the best ride of any bike I've had. But, only with a proper paint job, like Art Decor, none of this matt black rubbish.

Only Bianchi I'd want is the Pantani colour scheme. That was beautiful.

Always liked Baum's work - his Flickr page is worth a drool through every now and then.
