Lombardia Week. 2017 *Spoilers*

  • Giro 2016 - he had a contretemps with Dupont after stage 3 - Geniez had sustained a fractured wrist from a crash. DuPont must have caused the crash? The wrist I think was broken the year before and then just after it healed he got brought down in a late classic and broke it again :x - didn't finish stage 4 2016 Giro - lost time high season but had a reasonable Vuelta taking a stage and some aggressive mountain riding

2017 Moved to Ag2R - didn't seem to bed in straight away. Very weak at start of season and confirmed through the early months leading to abandon on stage 4 of giro (again!) after barely any energy in Sardinia? Unknown virus. Looking back to some sort of form - used Tour L'Ain where he did well (it's a small race!) as springboard to Vuelta - going Ok gets chucked off for hanging onto car on stage 13.

Hope he's at the tour next year
  • Gianni Moscon sure is a controversy magnet.
Once again the Italian has been accused by Madiot's lot: this time of causing Seb Reichenbach's crash in yesterday's Tre Valli race.
    http://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/racin ... der-353754

Moscon denies causing the crash, claiming that Reichenbach's hands came adrift on a rough descent.
As yet, there is little detail known to corroborate either story, but no doubt there will be an element that will seek to condemn, based upon his past record with FDJ.

  • Just three days or so to Il Lombardia, but there is the little matter of Milan-Turin first.

This is only the 98th edition! – but having been first run in 1876, it makes Milano-Torino at 141 years, older than any current bicycle race.

19 teams (14 UCI WorldTeams and 5 UCI Professional Continental Teams) of eight riders will participate in 98th Milano-Torino.

The last edition was won by Miguel Angel Lopez, who is back to defend his title from a host of big names.
Fabio Aru and Jakob Fuglsang(Astana Pro Team), Tom Dumoulin, Wilco Kelderman and Warren Barguil (Team Sunweb), Nairo Quintana (Movistar Team), Rigoberto Uran and Davide Formolo (Cannondale Drapac Professional Cycling Team), Michal Kwiatkowski, Wout Poels and Mikel Landa (Team Sky) Adam Yates (Orica - Scott), Steven Kruijswijk and Primoz Roglic (Team Lotto NL - Jumbo), Daniel Martin, Bob Jungles and Julian Alaphilippe (Quick - Step Floors), Ilnur Zakarin (Team Katusha-Alpecin) Domenico Pozzovivo, Pierre Latour and Alexandre Geniez (AG2R Le Mondiale), Bauke Mollema (Trek Segafredo) and Thibaut Pinot (FDJ).

the same FdJ that , when accused by 2 testimonies from riders, lied about Demare not holding on to cars? while deleting his Strava who showed new climb record ?

sorry but i don't believe a word from what FDJ says. 24 hours have passed and they didn't presented 1 gram of evidence, only some empty words.

probably another way of Madinot to get back at the budget mamut imperialists.

Two climbs of the superga should be good. The road was a bit rough in places when I cycled up last month but at pro speeds I doubt they'll notice it.

    According to Kirby at least.
Even when it was behind him.
Then he asks them for a time gap.
    Anyhow, he's caught.

Just caught last 10km of this - that looks a b’stard of a climb. Thought he was going to get caught there in the last km.

Clearly the drag from his mullet had been holding Rigo back - has had some good results since the haircut.

Yes, this year's lombardy seems to be bucking the trend of previous editions; even more full of heavyweights than usual.
  • Right, time to put the big one up.
