An evening spent doing very little. Gym then looked at my work emails blankly, considered marriage, went back to looking at bike stuff, then for the Dates birthday present. The last one may just be an upgraded mode, younger blonder etc etc. (jokes)

My view/ too many hours researching not working.
Spend around the 500 mark rather than the 1000, keep the change for the pub or if you love movies a soundbar.
It is quite hard to buy a bad TV these days. Samsung are normally a good shout but you can't get rid of the light on your current so I've avoided them.
Smart TV set ups are good but never as smooth as you would like. I generally find it runs better through a firestick or similar.
TV options - I've kept it to the 42" as it is generally the ideal size, unless the room and viewing distance is larger than most (sorry mate I've yet to stalk you, I'll get around to it). 4k is something to consider if you use sky Q, netflix has loads of 4k shows or futureproofing
Brands, though there aren't many I'd avoid -
Samsung
Sony
LG
Panasonic.
I can find you specific TV's if you want, can't buy it for you mind0
