Jeez, the vuelta live tracking website is crap. Apparently Froome isn't in any of the groups (despite what I can see on the screen), and the "counter-attack" group of 8 riders behind only has two riders.

Not sure what he was up to the other day, but that's a good ride by Lopez.
  • So without actually doing much, Froome gains a fair bit of overall GC time.

Chaves drops right out of contention. :(

    Very windy at the top.

Good effort by Pellizotti for Nibs.

So Nibz is #1 rival to Froome after all?

My wife will testify I was saying exactly that at the telly when Froome was bigging up Chavez.

It looked to me like the weather got to everyone today including Froome. He looked like he was struggling but dug really deep.

Wanted Froome to win for PTP, but hey ho.

He is quite frustrating to watch when he keeps looking like he's dropped and hanging off the back like that, he must have been feeling alright to get the 6 second bonus off Nibali but he looked like he was about to get dropped a few times.

    Knew Bertie wouldn't last.

    Great ride by Kelderman.

Chaves came in at 2'05" :( . Nibali into 2nd on GC.

Well clearly neither Nibbles or Froome had the legs to keep up with Lopez, and Nibbles didn't try to snatch 2nd place, so I guess everyone was fairly well cooked there today.

He looked as though he needed an extra gear, but when Nieve attacked it was clear his legs were OK.

In order to finish first, first you have to finish...

I thought Nibali was going to take him 6km out but he dug in like a true champion today.

anyone else notice that froome always leaves a gap when he is riding . only about a bike length , but more than most .

Spanish TV is funny. No more than five minutes after the finish and they're into a soap opera (Vuelta aftermath is on another channel)

Incidentally, I'm keen to know if Virgin Media's app works.

Had it for a while but haven't used it and also got the new tivo 6 box last week but haven't experimented yet... will let you know.

Now that the race is over I've switched over to the Virgin app. Easy to set up and the picture quality is significantly better than on the Eurosport app...

Only thing to remember is you can't watch the HD Eurosport channels on the Virgin Media player, only the SD channels. However on the phone makes no difference. As long as you have decent wifi it's usually excellent quality.

Yes. I've never quite worked out if it's a classic "sprinter's gap" to get the jump or a "better not get too close 'cos I'm staring at my lovely stem" thing.

Terrible day for Orica and the traditional Roche bad day.

I'd hate to play poker against Froome, I've given up guessing if he's struggling or bluffing - maybe he is suffering but just has that ability to dig deeper than the others.

Great win by Lopez, looks like another Astana rider who doesn't want to ride for Aru!
