Contact Canyon, it should work straight out of the box.

Presumably it worked immediately before packing, it's worth double checking all connections but I wouldn't go to much more effort than that.

Have you removed the crank and checked all 4 wire connections at junction box inside the bottom bracket ?

Have you removed the battery from the seapost and checked its connection at the base ?

When you checked each of the wires, did you remove and then re-insert them fully with the Di2 tool (that should have been included) and hear each wire click in ? There is an audible click so you know they have been inserted properly. a wire that looks in doesn't mean it is.

If there's no lights on the battery - is that not the first thing to sort out ?

Crappy that you cant ride your new bike because of it.

What "little button on the battery"? I'm not aware that the battery has a button that does anything like that. The external battery has a lever and a release button. The internal battery is just solid with an eTubes connection.

Are you pressing the button on the junction box? Assume that's what you think the "battery" is? Are there any lights when you hold over one of the shift levers (I'm guessing no)?

Have you checked that the real battery (probably located in the seatpost) is plugged in? Lift the seatpost out and check there's a wire plugged into the battery. My guess is that it is shipped with the battery disconnected (for safety).

I don't think there ARE any lights on any battery. Sorting it out might take a while...

Press the shifter keys simultaneously on one side. It should show you the charge in the battery (green light on the head unit). If nothing then either connections not there or it's a dud

How people can spend £x thousands on bikes, and then post threads like this, really does make me wonder...

Di2 is not rocket science. Are you sure you've even got the battery installed on the bike?

Canyon seem to have a chat function for support on their site - have you tried it?

It seems poor that there is no battery. One would hope that they did the most perfunctory quality check at the factory - not least of all to index the gears. Unless it has an external battery (which I very much doubt - you wouldn't have the charger that plugs in if it were), there must be an internal battery. Have you shone a light down the seat tube to see if it's not down there?

I can imagine that they disconnect the battery for shipping - if only to preserve the battery charge. I'd be in contact with Canyon to find out what they're up to.

And have you read the manual ? Do they mention anything about the battery ?

Some manufacturers now house the battery by the BB in the down tube, Cervelo certainly do.

That's the thing, it isn't rocket science, as everyone says, so you think that will be ok for me. I had issues in my thread with di2 and bike had to go back (Not charged and shipped without a charger).

But if you are new to the system, where do you start with fault diagnosis?

It's like a newbie getting their first road bike. Chances are they haven't seen or used 22 speed drive train before. If their gears are not working or need adjusting, it's obvious how to resolve? Doesn't mean they shouldn't buy a road bike.

Honestly, it's really easy. I believe that people are bamboozled by the idea of it. These are the same people that wouldn't think twice about connecting up the amp, turntable, speakers, tuner etc on their stereo 30 years ago.

All you need to do is be sure that everything is connected together and that the battery is charged.

After that, yes, you can mess about with software to update settings and firmware or you can do what I do and leave it alone.

If there's a fault, it's just logical fault finding in exactly the same way as if your stereo stopped. What's really great is that it doesn't matter where anything is plugged. If your RD is not working and you want to see if it's the cable or the RD, plug the RD into the FD cable. Also, once you know what to expect, you can also tell what other parts are working. Take the shifters - if you're not sure if it's the shifter or the derailler, hold down a shift button: if you get lights on the junction box, the shifter is fine. Etc

You shouldn't need to be using that at all.

How long have you left the charger connected?

Another question: what power source are you using for the charger?

Are you sure that's the battery you're looking at? It's usually the second junction box that's under the plastic cover on the BB.

Definitely. Even googling pictures of the various components sounds like a good idea.

Just logged on to the Canyon site and spoke to someone immediately?

The battery is located in the downtube and is accessed by 2 small screws apparently.

I would check the connections there to start.

Yeah - it would be good to hear back from people on these Di2 issues. Often post my thoughts and then never hear the resolution. It would be great to learn from these things so that the "community" learns. If there's a common issue or a common misunderstanding, that's really helpful to know.

I have Di2 on my race bike and apart from some small issues which have been resolved quickly its been great, its simple to use and straight forward to set up.

with regards to the OPs issue, its either a lose connection between the battery and the junction box in the down tube, or between the junction box in the downtube to the one on the stem (as there is no power whatsoever), that or the battery is kaput, cant see any other reasosn's really.

I have a question about the charger too.
