I just switched to commentary free feed to avoid CK wittering on about the golden kilometres. 45 mins I managed to last - not bad endurance

An interesting collection of riders finishing right at the back of the peloton today. The last 15 filled with GC contenders and TT specialists. So it looks like the weather will be best for the early starters tomorrow.

  • Can someone explain the golden kilometre please?

All the TT specialists went off early and Stefan Kung leads. With a couple of hours in the hot seat ahead of him, he's settling in.

Good call there. Bodnar went out in okish weather - it is looking really vile now.

Josh van Emden 13 seconds down on Bodnar after getting lost and having to retrace steps

Kueng in hot seat with 10:58

3 x bonus second sprints in one kilometre - no sprint jersey points just bonus time

    Smart move on their part.
If Kung reads as fast as he rides he can finish that book, just so long as the comfy armchair doesn't give him lead eyelids.

  • That will be our Becky responding to Carlton's sausage dog course description, no doubt.

    what's the cut-off for a short TT? Kung at 658secs - Demarre at 768secs - 110seconds down on leader; over 16% down.

Time trials are generally 25% I think

Ah - I just hated the way Demare coasted the last section and then started a bit of effort after the line.

edit: Just found La Vuelta rules - whacking great +35% cutoff on ITT and 40% on TTT (probably more likely if you get shelled from teammates early - but not this edition with only 13km)

New Eurosportplayer? Seems ok - but don't like the limited playback time; I regularly wanted to either go back to an incident or pause for 10-15 mins whilst doing something else.
