SupersixEvo vs Teammachine

Hey,

I've recently rode the Bmc teammachine. Thought it was great fun and suited me well.

Having looked at other bikes, it seems as though I can get more bike for the same money.

Is the CanondaleSuperSixEVO the same sort of geometry as the teammachine?

If it is I can get the Canondale for just a bit more money and have the ultegra group set instead of the 105.

Cheers

they are fairly similar, and having ridden both (and owning a teammachine SLR01) I'd side with the BMC in terms of what the bikes can do. the bottom brackets on cracknfails are often a bit squeaky, as well.

having said that a clubmate loves his evo...

if however the spec of the gears is something that bothers you, ultegra is lighter than 105, but no more reliable really..

Supersix would get my vote especially with Ultegra too - best is to try test ride the supersix as well

Ultegra and 105 are so similar now in terms of functionality I wouldn't let that be a deal breaker.

I've not seen anything that suggests Cannondale has a higher fail rate of their bike frames than other mfgs.

Have had a few cannondales with BB30 in the past and they do creak a bit, think it is something to do with the tolerances of the BB shell, this was on older models though and speaking to club mates who have them they love them and it seems the issue is not an issue any more.

The Supersix is a low and long race bike, not sure of the geo on the BMC but I agree with the above, you need to swing your leg over one to make sure it fits, or be very sure of your geometry needs.
Obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated!

    Thanks for the input all.

I've just found the canondale for about £1700 on a site. That's £500 cheaper than anywhere else! The Bmc is £1800.

I must admit I like the look of the dale better, I'll have to give one a test ride to truely compare the two.

The teammachine range is all reduced on Evans for some reason!?

I know what I'd be going for - the BMC. In my opinion BMC has more appeal and you see a lot less on the road than Cannondales's and I prefer that exclusivity rather than knowing you're likely to see someone else on the same bike as you.

I know where you're coming from, I do see a lot of dales on the road. That really doesn't bother me though to be honest. I'd rather just have the right bike if you know what I mean.

The answer is simple - ride the cannondale when you get chance then choose which one you like best.
As others have alluded there is not a massive difference between Ultegra and 105.

Yeah that's my intention, I can't get a test ride until next week an just wanted to get people's opinions that's all.

I was in a similar boat not too long ago, went with the Supersix because I ended up getting much more bike for the buck. Love the BMC though, lots of curb appeal.

But you will always know that you have a 'lower' groupset from the Shimano range if you go for 105! If that doesn't bother you, ride them both and see which is best for you personally. If you still can't decide, buy the one you like the look of more.

I have never ridden a BMC but so can't comment but there is a reason why you see so many Cannondales around (apart from their marketing) - they make very good bikes.

The nickname is a hangover from the 90s when Cannondale were pushing the envelope of manufacturing in aluminium. Truth be told, lots of manufacturers at the time had similar failure rates.

Thanks for the replies. Can't wait to test ride one now!

So would the supersix evo be more of a relaxed geometry than a caad 12?

IMO if you can stretch the budget I'd go for

Supersix evo with Ultegra Di2 (56cm) £1999 instead of £2999

running 25s in either gp4000s conti's or Vittoria G+ on various broad ish section rims ( so zipp /Hed/ h plus son training wheels). the gp 4000s on the zipp rims are like 27s but don't go above 25's is the golden rule ( especially with ultegra or dura ace brakes as they can sometimes struggle, 105s can go up to 28mm). the frame is rated for tyres up to 25-26mm.

Btw Evans always start a sale on BMC this time of the year, to clear the way for new stock for season 2018.

Cheers mate! I like riding 25mm tyres so all good

To be honest I'll probably go with the Bmc, although I just need to have a blast on the dale to get it out my system haha

Well, I test rode the supersix,

I tried it in a smaller size which was a tad on the small size for me but saves be ordering it in and waiting.

What a great bike! Really really enjoyed riding it. The thing just wants to go faster haha! Such good fun. The ultegra gears are so smooth too :D I was expecting it to be abit uncomfortable too but it was really smooth and comfortable. Only did about 5 miles but on quite poor road surface!

I've ordered in the teammachine SLR03 ultegra to test ride, so I'll see how they compares. It's gonna have to be pretty decent to trump the Canondale 8)

I rode mine like a Banshee today over some lovely surfaces and some poor ones. It probably could do with slightly thicker bar tape, but it handles everything with aplomb. They are very special.
