I can recommend these guys, I had to make use of them after an unfortunate case of chain suck tore a hole in my chainstay
send them photos and they will advise if its likely to be repairable. you'll have to send them the bike fram to get a quote mind.

Yes it can be repaired...http://carbonbikerepair.co.uk/ did an excellent job on my frame.0

Anything can be repaired - question is, does he want it repaired or does he want an Oltre XR4?
I know what I would want.....Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Well I've decided to reject MF's kind offer to buy me some fancy Italian bike and try to get the frame fixed - taking it to Magnafibre in Alva (near Stirling, hour's drive away) - who quoted "no more than £100 including replacing the paint" which seems a bit cheaper than an Oltre XR4, which probably has crappy campag kit on it anyway.0

Oh. I was just about to box it up and then post a thread slagging off the courier company about not teleporting it to you the same instant because I was too lazy to walk down the road with it to the PO.
Oh well, best fetch the hammer and the bucket of fire.
THe good thing about it having Super Record on is that it's already broken when it comes out of the factory so no need to hit it or set fire to it with fire before slinging it over the fence.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

this is what happens when you support the Tories, the multitude mass produced frames take the hit and me with my exclusive LOOK hand made in france frame, ride on with dare not a glance in your direction...know your place
i would buy a cheap ebay carbon repair kit and rebuild.0 -
Overdue an update: got it repaired by Magnafibre in central Scotland, who did this:
for £80.
If you look really closely you can see that it's ever so slightly out of shape still, but feels solid & aligned, so no complaints at the price.
As for Mamba - typical rich leftie looking down on those of us who have to make do with mass-produced consumer items... ;-)0 -
It will polish out.0

seat stay of my hack bike snapped at the dropout recently , and within a week a very good friend welded it and after a little spray of hammerite it was back in action. Steel is real.Raleigh Eclipse, , Dahon Jetstream XP, Raleigh Banana, Dawes super galaxy, Raleigh Clubman

Yep, maybe I should have done that when the Rusty Raleigh's seatstay rusted clean through.0

I should add that this was the first problem with the frame since 1979 and it has been my usual bike most of the time since the early nineties.
Really heavy? I weigh 95kg. The frame is a water bottle heavier than the lightest carbon or alu.
That is good repair of carbon , I had assumed it was scrap. It's not polyfilla is it?Raleigh Eclipse, , Dahon Jetstream XP, Raleigh Banana, Dawes super galaxy, Raleigh Clubman

This reminds me of an incident 4 years ago.
A friend of mine, that's a lie. Mr "I race sportive s and win them ...they're like a 3 or 4th category race", chases his front wheel most of the time, makes group rides hell, want's to prove he's god on a bike but has never been in a categorised race in his life. When I suggested doing some proper Vets competitions, it usually results in a lot of excuses and murmurings...
Formerly ostracised from the original Wheelers for trying to pick fights and on one occasion at a hilly club TT, accused the organisers of adding 2 minutes to his time 'deliberately'.
March 2013, some bloke got wind of this guy at the Solway sportive, sat on his wheel and jumped him with 200 metres to go. Our 'friend' wouldn't even shake his hand and was hopping mad. So the first guy who deploys race tactics against him in a sportive, leaves him behind and takes the 'honours'. You may know him, he is 5'6, blondish hair, rides a Basso now and a Saltire cycling kit.
That's the back drop.
Saltire bloke spends a fortune on a Look 765. (Probably trying his best to overcome the deep disappointment of loosing such a prestigious sportive and gain the tiniest bit of advantage by some considerable expenditure). Chucks some expensive hoops on it and a very expensive all in one carbon bar and stem combo. He turns up to a small impromptu group ride. I ask him how heavy the bars and stem are. I state that my separate alu stem and alu handlebar combo is roughly 38 grams heavier and suggested that was a heck of an expense for the weight loss. I don't mind what someone buys or pays for a bike or bits or clothing - regardless of ability, I was simply trying to wind the fecker up.
Up and at a local hill some 6 miles later, the placebo effect of this machine is wearing off quick. It's the hardest climb in the area. I jump across the middle of the road which is now grass on this narrow lane to pass him, he clicks the lever to select his lowest (39 - 25 by the look of it) and the rear mech just keeps travelling. H screw I guess. It moves into the wheel with so much force and under so much pedal pressure, there's an alarming ping and twang and audible crunch.
I attempt to stifle my amusement and pretend to look concerned.
The hanger sheared clean off. There were at least 3 broken spokes and some bent one's and the rear mech was difficult to recognise.
Oops.
Anyway, you'll be happy you got your bike back on the road and £80 isn't going to cause any loss of sleep.
I repaired a split in my seat tube from the point where the clamp goes myself on my CF bike in June '12 and it's still A1.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

£80 to unpack some boxes and line up your shoes? That seems a bit steep.0
