Went to see the man about the dog, it was worse than expected and covered in dust but salvageable. But not beyond hope. More exciting was the Capri RS3100 hiding at the back.

I once posted a link to someone I knew from 6th form who sent topless pictures in to FHM's highstreet honeys page, everyone on the forum at the time commented under it saying I had sent the link round. Needless to say I learnt my lesson whores have feelings too

I'm in no way suggesting the GF's sister would do anything like that, just that I don't think I'll be posting pics on this occasion...

I was in the 6th form a couple of months ago talking about my son's university application.

Bog stock ones, not a lot. A genuine RS is a bit more interesting.

No it's not. It's just a handy engine transplant donor. Just like the metro.

the Capri is an awesome car .... wet road,s tail happy, drive everywhere sideways ... what more could you want from a car.

nothing has been as entertaining until they released the 200sx ..... bags more grip and better handling .... but 200bhp to negate it and loose the back end again

A lot of the suspension fits the Ford Escort Mk2. So it's handy but it's crap.

I've raced a few Capris - mostly 3 litre but also a Perana (see link). They're quite quick in a straight line (compared to my 2 litre Alfa) but poor through the corners... The red 3 litre was always the same race. I'd out-quali him, he'd out-drag me off the line, I'd take him at the hairpin on lap 3 or 4...

Ha ha - 4mins 10 in; you get by him (just) and then obviously he's on the outside (although he's out of shot, I can presume that) and you can't get the racing line into the right hander and you have to bail out.

Yup - he had a bit of a "reputation" I don't race to damage the car.

If you enjoyed that, watch this one (BTCC support race) - I'd started at the back of the grid in Race 1 due to a rare car failure so I was behind him for the start of a Race 2.

You got a slipstream and a sling shot off the MK 2 Escort and then nailed the Capri at that same corner ^ (doubt there was much grip way over on the left hand side on the exit - you must have thought you were going to run out of road).
Best of all, the little ol' mini stayed ahead of all 7.7 litres of the both of you.

Were the tyres scrubbed 'cos it looked like you had quite a scrap keeping it on the track?

Ha - I tend to run the same set of tyres all season - none of your F1 budgets here. The BTCC day was warm and my rear tyres do tend to get hot when I'm pushing hard at which point the grip starts to go. Since those races (6+ years ago) I've got better balance on the car.

ETA - that Mini was a "no expense spared" car and was very fast. The guy who drove it was the stone mason on the renovation of the Rosylin (sp?) Chapel (think the end of the Da Vinci Code). When he started he'd arrive in a knackered Transit. By that time he was in an Aston and his team brought his car...

Thanks - to say I've had better days is a bit of an understatement.

All done now - we gave the old boy a good send off but saying goodbye wasn't easy. Have seen off friends and family and started on sorting out the house. Now unwinding a bit with the leftover food & wine.

Back down South tomorrow when I will try to resume normal service of being obnoxious and irritating.

    We worry when you're not.
Glad you gave him a good send off, I'm sure it wasn't easy as you say. Good luck with getting everything sorted, especially the old dear.

Taxied, worked, went to see a retired gent from work who isn't at his best, dinner, Dr Who.

39km and 735m of climbing, I think that qualifies for a hilly ride???? I might be wrong.

Let's see if I can make 'normal' better now that I'm back :D
