More vintage commentary from Kirby. Took him about 30 seconds after the finish to recognise who had won.

Does Albasini know something about the Basque country and splitting from Spain to become part of Switzerland that we don't?

Or has he actually won a race outside of Romandie and the Tour de Suisse?

    GC Tour of Britain 2010...

I did read somewhere today that Britain's best approach to Brexit should be to become a Swiss Canton so maybe he's just on theme...

He also won the Tour of Catalunya when some stages got cancelled or shortened.

(We've got a Canton in Cardiff so we're ahead of the game)

apparently Valverde had to swap bikes and Sky went full gas... Yates also punctured and is chasing back...

De La Cruz got an 8 second lead with 7k to go...

QS win here too. De La Cruz holds off the rest and just takes that win and the leader's jersey...

Just edit the title in the initial post I think (like I've done on this post)

Didn't look full gas to me.
Just took up a decent tempo when Movistar pulled over.
Safer than everybody just milling around.

A shame though, given Piti's penchant for kicking blokes in a similar predicament.

Quick Step: Winning 50km solos, bossing sprints and now 20km killer mountain attacks.
Not bad for half a week's work.

    Cummings crocked by cones.
Wide city centre carriageways causing a number of tumbles.
Looks to have done a collar bone.
    Dani Navarro definitely has.
Contador also down, for the third time this season.

    Not quite...

Yes - regarding 'My Man' Roglic.

Ish - he just needed 2 more seconds to lead GC.

No - I have been at home for the last two days, body aching and a-shivering, and I don't do pain very well!

Contador keeps falling over - he clearly repeatedly puts himself in the wrong place or has poor handling skills.
hope Cummings isn't to badly hurt.

    Ouch :(
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

Sounds like another nutso stage. Sanchez attacks near the top of the climb, crashes on the 1km descent to the line. Valverde takes the win and GC lead.

Cannondale duo Uran and Woods in third and fourth on stage and GC...

Another nutso stage? The only thing nutso about this race is it's design.
I slept through half of it.

Arrate never fails to deliver very little and didn't disappoint today.
They went up the steep side to finish, so what did happen, happened even more slowly.
Still, a 27 km ITT is bound to produce time gaps, where the rest of the race failed.

Not sure if it was a descent or just levelling off a bit - couldn't make out why he came off it was on a straight bit of road - maybe a snapped chain or foot out?

highlights looked good today - brutal climb but still 5 or so in contention at the end. No idea what happened to Sanchez.

Is Valverde always this good in the early Spanish races? Looks like he's going very well this year.
