Finding riders for informal rides - any legal issues?

I'm thinking about putting something on a forum (not nec. this one) along the lines of looking for riding mates for informal weekend rides. Would that mean I would be held legally responsible if I managed to find some people and one of them subsequently was involved in a crash on a ride with me? I hate the fact that I even feel the need to ask this, but would be interested to know of any experience anyone has in this area.

Yes I know there are plenty of clubs around but I'm looking for something slightly different atm.

Thanks for reading.

what a world we are living in...

I suspect it boils down to the definition of ride... as long as it doesn't come across as an organised event, I don't see the issue. There might be a max number of riders too for a "non event"

Ironically, joining BC and/or a club would probably give you the legal cover you are looking for.

Thanks both. I am a BC member, perhaps I should take a look at what cover that gives me.
