Spinkle small amounts of substances (yours to decide) in his brew for a few weeks then mention to your boss that you suspect drug use is affecting productivity and a suprise drugs test should be performed.

Suspect that the amount of booze that he partakes in on a regular basis might mask all other substances. The dude drinks ten pints on a monday night and thinks nothing of it. I thought that kind of behaviour died with the nineties?

Some his presentation whilst at work might be due to him suffering from withdrawal symptoms. If he's drinking 10 pints and still able to get up for work that's some tolerance to alcohol.
Offer him a pint and see if he perks up :D

If I had 10 pints the night before and someone offered me a pint. I think something like projectile vomiting might occur.

Or he's so depressed that he's going home, immediately cracking open a bottle because he's got feck all in his life (or so it seems to him) and a biff job. Wife and family are suffering, he's given up caring, downward spiral.

I know I'm taking his side a lot on this and he could just be a fat waster who likes pop but tread carefully my man!

I'm not saying let him have free reign, bit of monitoring and constant comms with HR so your back is covered at all times. If you work for one of the big 4 HR will have guidelines for this.

Oh - and don't just pull him into an office and say "so, you're going mental mental chicken from the orient then" as I suspect this may not help.

This is good advice. He's probably so drunk he won't understand the subtlety.

Of course it's good advice - it came from me, the fountain of all things denoted as good advice.

I am also THE KING OF TECHNOLOGY. Today I attached loads of word documents to emails so I had an excuse to walk into the office next door to print them out from their computer and not use up my paper that I don't know how to refill.

No, no. He plays darts on a monday night. Regularly drinks ten Pints during the course of the evening. I quite like guy, that's why i'm trying to help him out a bit. I've even suggested that he starts going to the gym and reurarly tell him not to work beyond five.

Is he any good at darts? Could being slaughtered all the time affect his action at the ockey? Just ask him if his crap darts technique addled to his booze issues may be the reason for his erectile disfunction issues. When he asks how you knew about not being able to get a stiffy tell him his wife told you when you smashed her back doors in last week whilst he was at the pub being rubbish at darts.

I think he's a very good amateur. Claims to have beaten Bristow, i've no reason to doubt him.
