How the hell do I import a GPX route file into Garmin Connect??

  • I've spent a fair bit of time searching online for how to do this - then, the other day, by complete luck stumbled on an answer that requires only a mobile phone with an internet connection! See my post here: https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into-sp ... o-cable-pc

(The previous way I'd been doing it works well but requires a PC (on which you have administrator privileges) and the special Garmin USB cable. That's also described in my post.)
  • The correct answer is buy a Wahoo Bolt

    Thanks.
  • The easiest way to get a route from a route planning site like Ride with GPS (miles better than Connect for route planning) is to use the FREE service provided by http://dynamic.watch/

Sign up link Garmin to it.

Basically you add the URL for the route to http://dynamic.watch/ via your browser
Connect Garmin to Phone via Blue tooth
Load the dynamic.watch IQ App on your Garmin and select the route.

It then downloads the route directly to your Garmin. No PC. No cables. EASY.

for years now i've been using ridewithgps pr jumping through the Garmin hoops mentioned here, then last weekend whilst browsing the garmin connect site I notice they've added an import option to the course creator, job done! so long as the file is .gpx or .tcx it works.

    navigate to https://connect.garmin.com/modern/courses#import-course

How many years has that been?
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.

    correct.

comical how much life garmin owners waste with these tasks (i was one for 5 years).

    Thanks for pointing that out.

Does this mean I don't need to buy a wahoo bolt now?

i like my 520, a mate who bought a bolt sent it back after the screen died, a replacement also went faulty... back on his Garmin.

a good spot on the new import function it works well but tbh it was easy enough to use ridewithgps, then do the ride and then save to connect.
