New forks or whole bike upgrade?

Currently riding a 2015 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp EVO 650b, but I'm increasingly finding that I just want to do downhill type stuff like I used to on my old Demo 8, so I bought a set of 160mm Pikes to go on it.
Before I fit the Pikes though, am I just polishing a ****? Or should I be looking at something completely different with slacker frame geometry? (that was part of the reason for the fork upgrade)
I'm not trying to make out like I'm 'too good' for the bike, but I just don't want to ruin it trying to ride the same sort of stuff I used to on my Demo.
For reference, I used to spend a lot of time at places like Aston Hill and Chicksands etc. And I'm planning on spending a lot of time at BPW this year.
I'm hoping you will all just tell me that the Stumpy is more than capable of everything except pro-line type stuff and that as long as I'm happy with it being a bit bumpier/twitchier than an Enduro bike like a YT Capra (which is the sort of thing I was considering upgrading to) it will do fine with everything BPW has to offer?

For the places you plan to ride, the Stumpy with a set of Pikes will be perfect. It's a great bike.
To be honest, I wouldn't take a downhill bike to any of those places, especially BPW.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

That's pretty much was I was hoping to hear, I've just been paranoid about the bike after reading all the reviews and the one thing they all pick up on is the steep geometry. But I think the geometry on paper is worse than reality as most of them did then go on to say it does ride very nicely.0 -

What do we class as a 'decent shock'? I'd already been looking at shocks actually, I've seen a few people swap a Monarch onto the rear which apparently complements the Pike nicely?
Is there a particular model of Monarch I should be looking for?0 -
buy a bike yolk and you can fit pretty much any 190x50 shock - a DB coil IL would be my choice0

That DBcoil shock looks smart, would be an expensive upgrade including £100 for the yoke though.
Monarch RT3 or the Monarch Plus RC3 seem fairly easy to get hold of in 190x50 (spec actually says 190x51, I presume that's not an issue?) so would they be a suitable upgrade over the Float CTD I've currently got?0 -
The Monarch is average at best. I've got a Monarch Plus RC3 and don't like it much. Coils are the way to go. I'd get a Fox Van R from TF Tuned with a PUSH MX tune.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
