Mavic Aksium two loose and seemingly untightenable spokes

    Right I'm starting to get it a bit now! :/ I didn't realise the screwing which tightens the spoke occurred where it does. I thought it occurred somewhere right near/on the rim.

    I did manage to sort one of the spokes out (before I realised the above) by finding a socket set which did reach the nut, and holding the spoke still. Couldn't do the other one because I couldn't get the socket set bit to purchase on the nut of that one (it was a bit off centre of the hole, a bit more recessed than the other one).

    Anyway, with the above understanding, I should be able to do the second of the two spokes OK now. Thanks.

    Top tip for the future:- if you're planning to work on something, give it a good clean first. At the very least it will help you see what you're dealing with, and generally speaking, mechanical / threaded components work better if they don't have sand in them :wink:
