To mount the light I would be looking for mudguard eyes to screw it to ( I put mine on a lowrider eye on the right fork)or somehow mounting it to the handlebars. Or the bracket could be taped and ziptied to the steerer tube.

Thanks, it just seems strange that there is no dedicated solution... it's not that touring bikes with discs have been invented yesterday

B&M do sell alternative mounts that allow their dynamo lights to be fitted to handlebars.

That's the one! That's the game changer, thanks!

  • Germans prefer to use luminous flux in Lux, rather than lumens... I am aware of the difference and that one cannot convert one into the other without knowing the size of the cone... but is there a ballpark figure... for instance an 80 Lux front light roughly compares to what? 100 lumens? 300 Lumens, 600 Lumens?

I bought this a few days ago because I do not have voltage protection on my very old halogen light. I can say it is very much better than a 3w halogen light . In the cone it is as bright as my ''600lumen'' torch and no bright or dark spots. The cone of light is quite narrow , perhaps 20feet wide at 20metres, but on its own fine for country lane riding. I would have a torch on my helmet also to help with the side views and corners. I agree putting the light high up is better . I have a big wheel shadow in the left of the light field with my light on he low rider boss, , so will move it to the fork crown, but expect a central wheel shadow there , hopefully not too long if my bracket gets the light up and forward enough.. Alternatively one could run at least two such lights on a dynamo.

ps: the central wheel shadow is only about 2 feet ahead and the cone a better shape with the light on the fork crown.

No idea. However I do know that my Luxos U is certainly not the "brightest" light I've owned (including Lezyne Mega Drive and various Chinese CREE jobbies) but it doesn't matter because the beam pattern is by far and away the best beam pattern for road riding I've used and I can't overstate the difference that makes. It's far more akin to the way a car headlamp lights the road than a bicycle light.

That said, it seems better on completely unlit country roads than street lit city roads.
