    Contador hits back (sort of):

This type of thing, if it came from someone who you feel something for or you care about, then maybe it affects you. In my case, it didn’t affect me at all
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

That's actually a pretty casual dismissal there from Bertie. Hat.

Contador is a seriously tough guy. Won't see many (if any) who are as mentally strong as he is in the peloton.

What's funny about this is people not recognising that other cultures are different. Different styles. And then getting offended when they've had massive spectacle and mostly for free.

I think he was good for the sport if a bit different.

Just wait till the Chinese get involved lolololol

    Agreed

Like the way he keeps his family around him too - I'm sure he could have had more cash out of his career (not that he's short of a few bob!) if he'd had someone other than his brother managing him. He's also very shrewd - keeping De Jongh, Hernandez, Faustino Munoz and the rest of his cadre in tow when he moves ensures consistency and loyalty, (a cynic might question the reasons that could be necessary, but I digress...)

Really warming to him in the past couple of years and his willingness to animate a race - that stage in the Vuelta where he smashed it to bits was brilliant. I think he knows he hasn't got another GT in him, but he's smart enough to also realise there's still a lot of value in attacking like he used to win he was winning races. Always had grudging admiration for him and the way he dismissed Armstrong without batting an eyelid during The Comeback (would have loved to have been on that bus after stage 7 in 2009) but genuinely warming to him as a rider now.
