Rib injury/stitch

I broke at least one rib in a mountain bike crash in spring 2015, since then it seems like every time I do any hard effort on the bike/running I get a 'stitch' in exactly the same place. It doesn't matter which bike I ride or what I eat prior to riding. Sometimes it feels like a normal stitch but other times it's less searing and more of a discomfort which prevents me from breathing properly.

I was wondering if it is possible that it might not be just a normal stitch which I can deal with like everyone else or whether a previously broken rib might cause agitation, and if so, is there anything that can be done about it? Has anyone else had this following broken ribs on here or am I just blaming a a stitch on the rib injury because they happen to be in exactly the same place?
