Everyone SHOULD love Cardiacs, they just don't know it yet.

Wasn't going to mention The Wedding Present as they are my favourite band of all time, so assumed someone else liked them. Saw them playing George Best in Southend a couple of years ago. Have you tried Cinerama?

Tempted to see them play It again 30 years after release next year in Manchester as part of an all day gig with others of a similar vintage.

I first met Mrs Throbbe when I complimented her on her Babes In Toyland T-shirt. Still love them.
  • Tickets booked for Spiritualized on 7th Nov. should be a good one with orchestra and gospel choir.

No doubt there will be some enlightened, but not a band I can talk about without people saying "Who?".

There was always going to be someone who was your "nemesis" :D Big like here.

I still play ‘My Spine (Is The Bass Line)’ at dark venues where the young people go to dance and ‘Coelocanth’ from the Manhunter soundtrack is a great piece of music from a great movie scene.

I seem to be the only person that likes The Church. ‘Is This Where You Live’ is one of my top 10 tracks ever.
Don't know whether to be disappointed that so many like them, or chuffed that my taste is vindicated. To a certain extent.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Thanks for the call on Spiritualized!

Never been on my radar but My Spine Is My Bassline is now purchased from iTunes and is on my iPod shuffle which I use for my turbo sessions!
  • I know they are fairly mainstream but anyone like Porcupine Tree and Younger Brother? Both fairly recent discoveries for me via Radio Paradise and very into both esp PT.

Talking Heads "This must be the place (naive melody)"

Used to have all their albums on a walkman for bouldering & rock climbing around the Peak District in the mid to late 80s. I remember watching Johnny Dawes climbing Beau Gest (several times) and he was listing to them and that track in particular. Brings back so many memories I have to be careful playing it as it's liable to make my eyes well up but can't say why.

    Spaceman 3? Anyone.

Skirling guitars and a few hazy years at uni.
  • ^Quite like the bit of Porcupine Tree I have heard.
For me, the band I quite like but when you play to mates they look blank/offended is Therapy? I got into them years ago when listening to a rock show on a forgotten NI radio station. I think they are pretty good, but no-one else seems to. It's taken 15 years for the Missus not to leave the room when they get played.
    Ecrasez l’infame
  • Spiritualized are the best band of the last 30 years. Jason Pierce is my generations Brian Wilson.

    The Beta Band
    Witness
    South
  • How did I forget Shack. Unbelievable band!

Troublegum is one of the best albums ever made. Criminally underrated. They were the nuts live as well - at one point it seemed they played every other week somewhere in London. Knives and Screamager - what a way to open an album!
Fat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.
Specialising in Git Daaahns and Cafs. Norvern Munkey/Transplanted Laaandoner.

Saw them in Morecombe in '88 (?), Jason Spaceman went on to Spiritualized, Sonic Boom on to Spectrum, though I last heard of him when he produced some songs by Insect Guide a few years ago.
Insect Guide anyone? Recommend if you like the above, or Jesus and Mary Chain etc

Their "Angus and Julia Stone" album from 2014 is pretty good.
I prefer her solo stuff to his though. He definitely needs her help.

LOL didn't they do an album called "Taking drugs to make music to take drugs to"? Which pretty much summed them up!

Think they morphed into Spiritualized and the lead guy went solo as Sonic Boom????

It's just a hill. Get over it.

I saw them at Shepherd's Bush a few years ago. They both played about 15 different instruments.

It really is, they are thought of as 'one hit wonders' because of 'Turning Japanese' but they were so much more than that.

Stunning British singer song writer and well worth digging out.
