Rather than advisory, I would treat all laws as mandatory unless there is a damn good reason to break them. You have to be able to justify breaking the law, which is a tough ask. In most cases I would suggest there is no reasonable justification.WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels

The green and red man at pedestrian crossings is only advisory (since we don't have jaywalking laws in the UK).
But apart from that, obeying red lights is definitely mandatory and not advisory...0 -

Given that you can get off speeding for really needing a number two, it can't be that hard!0 -

Your actions affect all of us.
My actions in simply asking a question of a group?? Nowhere did I say I am currently breaking the law. However I did say I felt extremely vulnerable at times mixing with traffic who often are not looking on their inside. Clearly many different countries are considering this is a very really problem. Simply saying "stick to the law" is not that helpful. Saying "I feel your pain but stick to the law until the UK catches up in 10-20 years" would be better.0 -

If I was a some (not all) of the drivers I have come across I would drive as close to the left hand curb as possible, fail to indicate and then turn quickly left without looking in my mirrors....and once I caused a problem I would flip a gesture and drive off quick.0 -

Of course, the advice includes the associated consequences of acting contrary to the applicable laws.
What I'm saying is, you should make up your own mind as to what your actions should be, the blanket 'don't do it, it's illegal' is not an intelligent argument.
See bold bit, if you murder someone, you should be doing so knowing that, if caught, you face life in prison.
If you run a red light you do so after considering the legal and non legal repercussions. Non legal should be covered as you will have definitely made a full assessment of the situation and know that proceeding will not result in a collision etc.0
