Adjust FTP for altitude.

I think I know the answer, but can Garmin or any other tracker adjust your ftp for altitude? Basically ftp gets lower as you go higher so at the height of the Stelvio which I'm climbing next week, it drops by about 14%. From a glance at Garmin manuals I think the answer is no, but thought worth a check.

You mean on the fly as you're riding? I had a look through the Connect IQ apps/fields list but didn't see anything like it. An aspiring software developer might give it a try but not sure if the little Garmin Edge 520 has enough computer power to do it on the fly. Better off calculating it prior to riding and then writing it out on the toptube (with altitude a field on the Garmin so you can see where you are in the climb) or maybe using a Connect IQ app like this to display it on the Garmin itself https://apps.garmin.com/en-GB/apps/7fd2 ... f8db4748fd.
Friel's done a blog with a handy chart here, http://www.joefrielsblog.com/2010/09/al ... mance.html0 -
Yeah, I was looking at that chart to get the reduction. Thanks for the info.0

I plotted the power drop as a proportion of sea level power as per the two studies in that table Friel refers to, and also added data from another cycling specific study. One of the studies in the Friel blog was on runners and extrapolated that to cycling power.
