Recovery & Peaking Advice for 2 Big Weekends

Off to the Alps for the first time in August, where we've got 5 days riding planned.
Not going to do anything mega-long, but probably 10k feet of climbing each day over 50/60 miles for 3 days with a couple of flatter, shorter rest days thrown in.
The above I'm not too worried about, but I am doing a big 12 hour running/cycling/kayaking endurance event 2 weekends after.
Half my club went to the Alps last summer and were utterly hopeless at riding for a week or more afterwards due to fatigue. I need to avoid this.
I know one option is to keep riding every day in the gap between the events, that's probably what the pro's would do.
Any advice welcome.

Following your Alpine trip I would stick with your usual training keeping to the intensity but reducing the duration.0
