Pain months after 'The Snip'

So let me explain this delicate problem.
I had the snip last year. No problems or ongoing pain after recovery.

Cycling-wise I'm mostly fine, but when climbing in the saddle I get a lot of pain in my lower abdomen - pretty much exactly the feeling you'd get from a hard kick in the nuts

What's causing the pain is pressure from the saddle at the points where the tubes were cut and tied.
I've tried moving my saddle down a little and even tilted down slightly but it doesn't help.

Has anyone else had this problem? Are there any specific saddles worth considering?

I've had the same procedure as you and while I can feel where the tubes have been cut and tied I've had any pain.

From your description it doesn't sound that the saddle is the issue and I'd be more inclined towards a visit to your doctor as it doesnt sound right.

Since the snip I've used 5 different saddles and never experienced pain that you've described. The one adverse outcome I had was a saddlesore from an in growing hair which reoccurs occasionally in the same spot.

I'm not sure why, but GPs don't tend to focus on the problems post snip. I think most the the "failures" are considered from a functional point of view, not pain in the balls. I have no expertise, but wonder why they actually do snip rather than some sort of implant/stent to block the tubes.

To put the other side, mine went very smoothly. No real pain as such; I even took out the stitches myself because I CBA trying to get an appointment at the GPs. I was back to cycling after a week, and only very occasionally I'd get the occasional dragging ache the OP describes, but that seemed unrelated to cycling. So don't let the occasional internet anecdote put you off having it done.

My boss on the other hand apparently ended up with a scrotum the size of a grapefruit due to a post-op bleed

A saddle with a cut out might be worth a try

Also try some gym work, squats and core - if youre strong everything should tighten around the mid section - thus less weight flopping onto the saddle.

Have you thought about trying an athletic support ?

Can you reduce the pain but leave the swelling.....

Mine was fine too. At the time I was playing 5-a-side every Friday evening - had the snip at lunchtime on the Friday and I did give that evenings football a miss but I think I was there the following week and had no complications or subsequent pain.

I suggested to the mrs that I need her to "put out" a bit more often to make the business case work :D

but to be fair they do need to come off the pill as they get older. >35 I think.

Nearly 4 years since I was done, and still in pain every day. Even had to have an additional op to remove all the plumbing (epididymectomy) and that was a bit of a shocker - ball out and then stitched back in.

Cycling isn't too bad, but I get regular bad pain flare ups.
