Hi all I'm planning of riding st 1 of this years tour of Britain for charity. I've been off the bike for 9 months for various reasons so this is giving me focus to get back on. I'm starting from 0 miles and plan to do the ride on 24th August. I work 12hr shifts 3 days one week 4 days the next week and then back on for 3 then 4 etc.
Any plan would be greatly appreciated.

British Cycling has a number of century plans and another good source is the training plans is the Watt Bike site.

    Build up slowly, e.g.
    Mon: 10 mile ride
    Tuesday: 103 mile ride
    Wednesday: 104mile ride.

Crap joke aside, just get out and get riding as much and as long as you can, as often as you can.
If you only have an hour, so be it.
If you only have 20 mins, go and beast yourself. But get on the bike and ride.

Start with an hour, say then slowly build up from there.
A good way to stretch the miles is by looking for a cafe say, 15 miles riding away, riding there, having a coffee or whatever then riding back.
A few days later try 20 miles to the cafe, 20 back and build up. The little rewards help.
    But get on that bike!
