Campag did make MTB stuff at one time, about 2006-2008 I think. I presume they decided their core clientele was not really interested so shelved it.
You mean they sold sweet FA? :)

I would guess that had something to do with it, although doesn't mean it was a bad product. I think they were only ever targeted at the hybrid/touring bike market rather than proper MTB stuff anyway. It's a bit like Italian made MTB's though - Wilier, Pinarello, Bianchi and even Colnago all make them, but they don't exactly sell loads...

I did have some sets of the Campag flat bar 10 spd road Brifters, Chorus level carbon lever things which were just beautiful for the road triple groups.
Tbh I dont think it is bad stuff but I do have doubts about their commercial nous and ability to survive longer term given they have to compete against much larger competitors with a lower cost base.

In the end it was hard to resist having a pop once I realised that Pinno was such a Campy fanboi :P

"...once you knew..."!!! How long have I had a Campag related Avatar?

Campagnolo have never really been a big player in the market. The likes of SKY are paid to put Shimano on their bikes. For the teams that are limited by budget, Shimano wins on cost - therefore, it's hard to get themselves as represented as their Japanese counterparts. Wheels and the acquisition of the Fulcrum brand is their major income. People will wax lyrical about Campag factory built wheels - they are excellent. I have had 4 pairs of varying quality.

Pricewise, they are more competitive now than for a long time.

    Shimano Ultegra Di2 Gruppo - £860 - that's eyewatering. DA Di2 - £1580.
Campag Chorus 11 - £750, Super Record 11 - £1470: arguably one up from the DA only that it isn't electronic but it would be a no brainer for a cyclist with extra cash to buy an electronic DA gruppo over a Super Record, ceramic bearings throughout.

WTF has your avatar got to do with Campy? Looks like a pair of legs shaped a bit like a pair of rim brakes.

I think we need to get you a better one

I had got the impression, rather wrongly, that you were and educated and knowledgeable bloke but actually, you are a Philistine. Therefore, you can f*ck off with your mate who I told to f*ck off in a previous post.

I grant you they are not bad looking for a brake, however looks aren't the primary function of brakes. However, good design should work well whilst looking good. To wit those tabs are fugly and shouldn't be on there.

You can take the tabs off.

It's no wonder Italy is going downhill quick; even the immigrants don't actually wan't to stop there.

Do you not remember Pinno's old avatar? Like looking through a telescope at a blurry piece of Sh!t on the face of the moon. The current avatar may be shyte and resemble some replacement legs for a frog but it's an improvement.
