    A fatty like me (86kg)definitely needs small ratio, I usually go 12-32 and 50-34 on my sram equipped bikes, with that I can generally stay seated and get up most hills.
    Toys hill was the exception to that I have to say.

    I'm not saying that's right or wrong either. But while you could definitely categorise the pro peloton as 'fit'. I would think 'healthy' is another issue.
