Bad luck for Luke Rowe, puncturing while he was in that lead group with around 18km to go.

Looks like the Astana guys have been taking "lessons" from EQS re tactics.

Yes, Rowe had a puncture on the lower slopes of the Muur. No cars there, so ages for the neutral service BIKE  to change his wheel and he still managed to reach the final corner, as the front group went under the top of the climb banner.

    No chance after that, though.

Or as I was going to title this thread - Comedy Follows Tragedy.

Astana doing their best in their attempts to cheer everyone up. Idiots.

How many times per season do they go up the Muur? I think it's scandalous. It will get worn down to a mole hill at this rate.

Were the Astana duo arguing with each other (as Eurosport were saying) or with Kristoff?

    Each other.

I was wondering if perhaps we were seeing the factionalism within the team that often gets talked about.

Some quality tweets from Chris Baldwin on this. Basically no one at Astana really cared about this race cuz Vino never rode it. Then they realised that Westra might be ok at it, so he's going for GC. Lutsenko hitched a free ride and wanted to go for the stage win. The two don't really have a common lingo with the DS acting as go between...

Imaginary suggestion between Westra and Lutsenko:

W: When Kristoff has just finished a turn on the front, i'll attack. If I drop him, i'm going for it - if I don't; counter attack. Deal?

    Viviani over Kittel.

Quick step dropping their sprinter off 75m too soon for a change.

I can't remember the last time I saw someone come around Kittel like that.

Great win considering he didn't have a lead out. Bushwacked Kittel with 30 metres to go?

Kittel seemed to relax too soon thinking he was home.

Thanks to Katusha making a right old mess of the Etix lead out. :)
Kittel's face at 300 metres to go was a picture.

Would I be wildly off the mark to suggest that Brian Holm's teams still ride like it's 2009, while everyone else has moved on? It's something I've been thinking since seeing Cav's QS getting mugged often by Kittel and his one man lead-out

Anyone know what happened to Luke Rowe? Down as DNF.

Crashed twice according to Kirby, but that could another one of his fairy tales.

He's champing at the bit: a few days not racing will make him more potent come Sunday.
