Are you suggesting... no.... surely not.... Digger was... Twitter doping?

  • off topic : a friend from UK just told me that Oli Cookson leaves Team Sky, heard at Richard Moore podcast ( part of the arguments of Digger and the protection given to Team Sky by Brian Cookson)
  • "Ricco popped twice, Merckx three times & who is Cookson taking selfies with?"
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles
  • "Ricco popped twice, Merckx three times & who is Cookson taking selfies with?"

Well, STRICTLY between the two of us, I believe he also has a pack of Cycling Top Trumps, and his most precious card is the Anquetil one
  • Was Ricco available for a selfie?

Seriously, if you can't bring yourself to respect Merckx, just find yourself a new sport

I think if David Walsh was the litigious type he may have had better motive, means and opportunity to go after a rather bigger fish.

Certainly. But Digger, thehog, and their moronic Clinic posse have been relentless in accusing Walsh of essentially corrupt reporting on Sky. And Karma's a b**ch.

It's now been made an issue of freedom of speech by his crew. They really are stupid.

There is no infringement on his freedom of speech. He could have left the offending tweet to stand and taken the consequences.

Some twitter enabled soul should use the platform to call him a child abuser and disclose his home address then see how far his commitment to completely unfettered freedom of speech extends.

Indeed - there are a number of defences to any action for defamation, with truth being the ideal one.

He can't really rely on that with no evidence, and trying on 'fair comment' will crumble fairly fast when the test of the man on the Clapham Omnibus is applied.

He seems to have been labouring under the misapprehension that freedom of speech is absolute. It is, as long as you're prepared to spend a lot of money in court.

You'd be surprised at how much truth Digger came out with so if it does get to court it'll be very entertaining for some and very embarrassing for others.

Truth is an absolute defence, in which case he's nothing to worry about. In which case why close the account....he's a mud-slinging fool.

Remember, costs aren't awarded in cases of defamation, which is which is why it's usually a rich man's action.

To give him some context, he was a general conspiracy theorist as well, 9/11 Truther, JFK ...

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I've commented before that the general tone of the Clinic is incredibly similar to conspiranoid sites, MRA fora, gamergaters and so on.

I was thinking the same... who is Digger.

So now, if I understand correctly.... he's just somebody that posts his opinions on the interweb based on nothing in particular, with no exclusive knowledge, with no specialist knowledge etc... and gets a lot of attention from others for what reason, who knows? He gets his own thread here because somebody is suing him.

Is that about right? Funny old world.

I think you've just about nailed it there! Not convinced he has that many friends even in The Clinic (there's no thread for him there, unlike here, whatever that means...)

I'm close to drowning in schadenfreude, if that helps. He's been the most toxic presence across cycling social media for years: in the vanguard of the UK Postal boll0x with the tragic Cyclismas crew etc. Well done for missing it.

Talking of drowning - I'm not saying that these pages are totally free from the occasional "solar flare" of stupidity or naivety - but following a thread in The Clinic feels like dodging turds in a river of bile.

    Hat, tip!
  • I reckon it's highly unlikely this with has come from anyone connected to Sky.
One visit to the Clinic's Sky thread and the same libelous lunacy continues unabated.
Surely they'd be part of a job lot?

Incredibly, also in the Sky thread, one guy makes a sarcastic comment about Contador being an anti doping hero, upsets the locals and gets slapped with a two week trolling ban.

    A parallel universe indeed.

  • Unless anyone knows what the comment was we're just guessing. He has called out Radcliffe and she's pretty quick to send the lawyers in so possibly something to do with the IAAF and those particular cheats.

It would be comedy gold to hear her being cross examined on Healing Hans.

Ah it's ok to inject sheep blood or cockerel crest, just don't mention it to Tyler's twin.

The one downside I can see after treatment is insisting on wearing blue lensed sunglasses inside, banging on about charity all the time whilst forgetting you have umpteen million in the bank, together with not being able to ride a bike safely through Central Park.
