By the way, I know everybody probably has their own systems, but...

I created a google spreadsheet for the Vuelta that automatically updated all the scores at the end of the day. If anyone wants a copy of it, just shout.

Sorry I missed a lot of the recent posts on this thread. I'm happy to do some of the scoring if required.

I created a google spreadsheet for the Vuelta that automatically updated all the scores at the end of the day. If anyone wants a copy of it, just shout.

I created an Excel spreadsheet into which you could copy and paste each page of the picks. It would then match the picks against a list of riders and sort the users alphabetically. It was then easy to paste it into Google. This worked well in theory* and probably was quicker than doing it manually in practice, but I think it required Excel skills, and it was scuppered when people wrote things like "I was going to pick Gerrans or Wiggins, but instead I'd like the pink flower". It would then suggest Gerrans and Wiggins, but I'd end up have to read the whole post and work out who the pink flower was. Still, it saved some effort putting it next to the user in the right order. Anyway, for all of those reasons, I've never really suggested that anyone uses my file. Yours sounds a bit simpler and more useable....

*In theory practice is better than theory, in practice it is not.

Yes, I tried automating the whole thing and it was impossible for all the reasons you say.

At some point, there is still some typing in required :(

While I'm quite happy to handle a Grand Tour, the Vuelta may be not be the best one. I was intending to go on holiday to Istanbul and Athens in sometime September. Happy to swap.

    How to Play

Playing along with PTP is extremely simple - you don't have to sign up or join anything other than the Bikeradar forums. If you're already a member here, that means you're already eligible to play.

A few days before each of the chosen races, a PTP thread will be started in the Pro Race forum. That thread will contain a selection of useful links - start lists, race maps, past winners and so on. All you have to do is consider who you think is likely to win and post their name in that thread. It's that simple. If the race in question is a stage-race, you also get to predict the daily stage winners.

Post your pick in the relevant PTP thread before the cut off. If you change your mind then please post as a new post rather than editing your old post.

As you play, your scores will be added up and the overall season rankings will be updated in this thread.

    Scoring

    TdF = Tour de France / G/V = Giro/Vuelta / Reg = Regular season

    6 | 45 | 35 | 20 |
    7 | 40 | 30 | 15 |
    8 | 35 | 26 | 10 |
    9 | 30 | 22 | 5 |
    10 | 25 | 19 | 2 |
    11 | 20 | 16 | |
    12 | 15 | 13 | |

    1 | 12 | 10 | 6 |
    2 | 10 | 8 | 5 |
    3 | 8 | 6 | 4 |
    4 | 7 | 5 | 3 |
    5 | 6 | 4 | 2 |
    6 | 5 | 3 | 1 |
    7 | 4 | 2 | |
    8 | 3 | 1 | |
    9 | 2 | | |
    10 | 1 | | |

    Doping

Points are finalised once the race organisations publishes their results. No adjustments will be made if it later emerges that a rider has failed a drugs test or if a rider has wins retrospectively removed from his palmares.

    Prediction Cut-off

The cut off is 12pm (noon) on the day of the race. This is strict so predictions at 12.01 won't be counted (exceptions made for split-stages, evening prologues etc). No GC selections will be accepted once a stage-race has begun.

just as an experiment, can we run a PTP "entry" where dear Peter Sagan is the pick for every race?

 just the one dayers or for GC as well... that of course would skew things. What about those he hasn't entered?

    hmm, good point about entries

You know that meme about Donald Trump that says he's worth X billion but if he'd just left his inheritance in a savings account he'd be worth 3X billion. I was wondering if there was a similar thing for Sagan & PTP..?

This is easily my best PTP placing ever...

I'm going to get overtaken by the Sep fans after PR though. My classics campaign is looking shaky

Hmm, now this is interesting. Do I save the points and take second place after the classics or do i go for broke and try and leap frog Blue Moon for a glorious - though Valverdesque - victory.

he has the advantage though as I can't guarantee I ll be back from my Tulip tour by 12 00 on sunday so will have to pick early and just go with whatever I pick.

    Interesting...

Results after Amstel Gold (Round 10), LBL (Round 12), and Tour de Romandie (Round 13).

    Top 10:
    BlueMoon17 440
    tforonda 426

    Joelsim 373
    TheBigBean 364
    archieboy 361

A bit of a shake up in the top 10 but BlueMoon still leads the way.

Do let me know if you spot any errors... I discovered that a couple of you were on the spreadsheet twice, not that it improved your results...
