Hello,
I have been mountain biking a few times in the last 6 months and living in the north of England (Leeds) I decided it was a great sport to get into after having to stop regularly snowboarding.
After reading a few articles online and picking up a December 2015 copy of MBUK which recommended the Heist 2.0 as the best under £700 hardtail I went ahead and bought one for 0% finance for £584 (10% off!) from an online retailer. This was admittedly an impulse decision but after doing some further reading I still don't regret my decision.
However today I received an email saying that due to high demand the bike will not be delivered until mid march 2016! My question to you is, is it worth holding on and getting the bike at what I imagine is a pretty good price, OR cancel the order and find something similar that can be delivered sooner and possibly have to pay more?
Im in no real rush to get riding, and my riding partner is in a similar position in terms of buying his first bike too. I guess all im asking is: "Is this a good starter bike for a bit of trail riding and to start my journey into the different aspects of mountain biking?"
Cheers!
p.s if anyone knows any really good trails in West Yorkshire around Leeds please let me know! I've heard Stainburn Forest is good!

Found this as a possible alternative, which would you personally choose? from my limited knowledge I would say the specs on the Diamondback are better, and actually works out cheaper.

Im based in skipton and go to stainburn every now and again, its not massive and there are no facilities. The upside being its usually quiet and the pub (sun inn) down the road is a good spot for a pint and bit of grub. As its not very big but you can definately have a good half day there. You can also just go across the road into anither wood for nice xc loop.0

should never pay more than £300 for a bike, most "used" bikes are really new, as they have been ridden once then put away.
anyway, the diamondback is a good choice & can be bought for less, straight away from a shop on ebay, it's your money as the saying goes.....

Except the bike in your link is a lower specced Heist. It's less expensive because it's worse.
Why is it one should never pay more than £300 for a bike?Current fleet

Thank you Kyle, Stainburn is certainly on our hitlist and any extra tracks around the place will be good too
And yes Natjan, it wasnt the the Heist 1 that i was looking at, the 2 appears to be better specc'd and only like £100 more that the Heist 1.0, plus the 0% finance element which for me is a bit of a life saver.

Would this be a smart move for something around the same price?
