Sram 22 red or Di2

My current ride has a 105 group set and I want to upgrade. Money isn't really an issue I just want to make the right decision.
Question is, for those with experience riding with both group sets which one do you prefer ?
Secondly, will the value of Sram red 22 drop due to the influx of electronic shifters?

If money isn't an issue get 2 bikes, one with each.I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0

I like your thought process but don't really have space for any more bikes in the house0 -
Budget? eTap is £1k ish. Find a force chainset and brakes, whole shebang for £1200 or so.
If I was buying high end mechanical group sets right now I'd definitely be thinking etap.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Agree about e-tap if money isn't an issue.argon 18 e116 2013 Vision Metron 80

I'm a shim man so would go di2. But etap looks interesting0

+1. On the etap. I believe this will seriously challenge the Shimano Campagnolo dominance.
Looks cleaner, easy to setup and fit.0 -

Buy a bigger house.0 -
You need to try SRAM, you may not like the way it changes gears, I could never get along with it. On the other hand I am really interested in etap.0
-
Just went through the same decision.
For sake of trying I went for ETap but not their chainset. Instead put in some Verve Infocranks. When choosing groupsets, the insertion of a crank based system is cheaper overall and more increased features if done at this point.0 -
Thanks for the feedback. I never considered Sram etap. After watching a few videos on the testing it could be the way to go. Is it available to buy online as yet? did the rounds of a few websites and couldn't find pricing. By the looks of it.0

Full groupset will come in c.£2000 and transmission kit, i.e. shifters and derailleurs, around £1250. Last I heard, it should be available around late March/early April.0
-
Transmission kit is £1038 on Wiggle if you have your 12% discount. If you really must have a Red chainset that should be easy to find for less than £200 new, let alone used. Brakes you should be able to get for £130 ish if you look hard enough. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Love all these people jumping on the ETap bandwagon. What's SRAM's recent reliability record again? Oh yeah, terrible.
That said electronic groupsets on road bikes are pointless to me, although they do make a world of sense on TT bikes. I specced DA9000 for my top bike. Prefer it to the DA9070 I had on my last one.English Cycles V3 | Cervelo P5 | Cervelo T4 | Trek Domane Koppenberg0 -
eTap is the way forward, I would wait and get it.0

The only downside I see is having to manage 4 batteries. I thought one was enough when looking at the Di2.0

And its not that long ago Wiggo was chucking his Pinarello with electronic DA against and Italian rock face. Shimano are hardly spotless on the reliability front.0 -
No but Di2 is infinitely more reliable than a system that hasn't yet been tested by the public. Plus Di2 crash protection did it's job on that occasion.English Cycles V3 | Cervelo P5 | Cervelo T4 | Trek Domane Koppenberg0

That's exactly my point. I've had every iteration of Di2 so I know the system intimately (and yes, it's super reliable when correctly installed). For all intents and purposes ETap doesn't even exist, so of course an established and proven system is superior to vapourware. People say the same thing every time a new PM is released yet they all have issues. Those who don't learn from history...English Cycles V3 | Cervelo P5 | Cervelo T4 | Trek Domane Koppenberg0

^ Absolutely, although it does exist, is available to pre-order and is being used by Katusha this year. We have to encourage as many people as possible to buy into being SRAM eTap beta testers!
I hope it will be great, but will be waiting for eTap V2, which I think will be an awesome groupset!0 -
You lot can test the SRAM ETAP for me, and after 6 months if it's all still looking good, I might consider it!0
-
With regards to SRAM eTap, all I'll say is; can you name more than one thing you own which operates wirelessly that has been utterly reliable? I can't.0

I sold our Sonos system as it never had a reliable connection and constantly required updating.
My Iphone refuses to Bluetooth to my Mac.
My Garmin says my Iphone has uploaded my ride for me, but it hasn't.
Etc, etc.0 -

Yes. Though it depends what use you put it to. My primary use is Netflix and Prime, but I have Plex installed so it streams all my Mac based media (wirelessly).
