    I use an old wheel and tyre combo for convenience of putting the bike on the turbo while still being able to go out on it at the weekends. Just take the turbo wheel off and put the proper one back on. No need to change the tyre.

    GCN put a wheel with a 5 speed cassette on an 11spd bike and it worked.
